Red face Streaming to PC's and appliances

Hello-
Is anyone here streaming from a BTV box to PC's as well as to an appliance (like the MediaMVP and/or Prismiq)?

I'm trying to figure out how to do it, since it seems one can only stream to other PC's in WMV format, but the MediaMVP and Prismiq do not playback in WMV (only MPEG2, AVI, etc).

Thanks,
Neil

Re: Streaming to PC's and appliances

I am interested in this also, I am building a dedicated PVR out of an old Compaq PIII 700. I want to stream to my regular PC and an HTPC that I am planning. The MVP looked great (in place of the HTPC) but not if it can't open WMV.

Anyone have something similar running?

EDIT: can you only stream WMA or can you stream MPEG?

Re: Streaming to PC's and appliances

I currently record on my HTPC, but my TV is dead. So to watch the recorded programs for now, I simply use my other computer (connected via gigabit ethernet) to browse across the network, find the show I want to watch that was recorded on the HTPC, and click on the file. It plays it just fine across the network - in glorious mpeg2! The only caveat is you need to have the DVD codec on the computer you are browsing from. Hint - when you see the file you want to open, right click on it, then select "Open With", then choose your DVD software to view it. Don't know how well it would work over regular 10-base T /100 ethernet though. I haven't tried that yet.

Now I never miss "America Chopper" - woohoo!
