Question A minor annoyance while using Program Guide and ATI Remote Wonder Remote control

Hi,

I have ATI Remote Wonder Remote control. When in fullscreen mode I am browsing the Program Guide, I see a very non-intuitive behavior. If I press the Channel up button on the remote control, the channel numbers actually decrease. If I press the Channel down button on the remote control, the channel numbers increases. This is vexing and completely non-intuitive.

Note that Channel Up and Down button work as expected while using the guide on top of Live TV (in fullscreen mode). The annoying behavior I mention happens while I am browsing Program Guide independently.

Is there a way to configure so this doesn't happen?

thanks,
Osho

Uhh... it should not be doing this... I guess my first recommendation would be to make sure you have the latest Remote Wonder software installed, then rerun the setup wizard for BTV and make sure to select the remote wonder.

I've been using the ATI remote for several months. Never noticed this issue. I use the up and down arrows (the four direction pad not the mouse control) and it always works proper.

I going to GUESS that you might be using the actual channel up and down key on the remote? (I'm at work now and don't have it in front of me)

If so, what you may be getting is NORMAL. Channel DOWN button moves one channel DOWN .. or from chan. 5 to channel 4 or 8 to 7. Isn't that what a "channel down" is? If you are looking at the Channel GUIDE .. then pushing that channel DOWN button IS going to make your on screen selection go UP (to the next lower (down) channel.

I've always thought that's why there are "navigation" buttons. The CHANNEL UP and down is NOT a navigation button. If you use the up/down/left/right buttons THEN your selection WILL move up and down and left and right properly on the GUI.

What do you do when browsing the channel guide with the "channel up and down" and you want to move forward or backward in time? You have to revert to the "proper" key for that no?

Simply put .. channel up or down moves your channel NUMBER up or down.
Navigation up or down keys move your selection on the GUI up or down.

I mention this because it sounds like you want SS to fix something that's not really broken. And if they DID change it then using the channel up or down properly (like when in LIVE TV) will screw that all up. When I'm watching LIVE TV on channel 5, and I push the channel Down button, I expect it to go to the next lowest number .. ie 4. Not down in the guide which would be the next HIGHEST number. <grin>

All seems logical to me.

This may be off topic, but you folks seem to know what you're talking about. I've got BTV3 running and ATI Remote Wonder. How do I setup a button to launch the prgram guide?
