PVR-250 BTV Aspect Ratio is Odd

I just got a PVR-250 with the hopes that my PVR experience would improve over my ATI AIW setup. The only problem I seem to have is that if I set the aspect ratio to "Auto" the picture is horizontally compressed (everyone is skinny and tall). If I change it to "stretched" things look fine. Other TV programs look fine with the PVR-250, but BTV is acting strange. Anyone have any ideas on whats causing this and how to fix it?

Thanks, Mike

I have the same issue. I believe it has to do with the MPEG codec that I'm using, but I'm not sure. If I re-encode it, it plays just fine with the correct aspect ratio. Try playing the file in Windows Media Player and then go to File, Properties. Then look at the very bottom line where it says "Video Codec".

Mine shows "Moonlight-Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder" How about yours?

Ok, I just resolved this on my workstation be uninstalling that codec in Add / Remove programs. It is now playing with the "Ligos MPEG Video Decoder" and the aspect ratio is perfect.

Thanks. After messing around with the decoder options things look like they are working.
