ati allinwonder pro128 (demo-cant watch live?)

With the demo (free) version. I am able to record, then watch a show with no problem.
I have ati allinwonder 128pro, and whenever I press the watch live (with program recording), it will report that the server is not answering ..

What can I do to watch live shows? I will purchase the product if that function works.

Thanks for your help-

I've got a similar problem with an ATI AIW Radeon.

Another recent post has a similar topic: http://discuss.snapstream.com/ubb/Fo...ML/000870.html

But I think we are both trying to watch the live stream locally (not thru a network). Are these problems the same?

If you read the release notes, we dont support watching a live recording on ATI cards with the rage theater chip due to incompatibility issues. We are working with ATI to resolve this issue.

I am in the same boat with Sam. I'm anxious to buy, but streaming live is what I'm after. I too have the ATI AllInWonder 128 Pro.

1) What kind of time-frame will we know more of your progress with ATI? More like days, or more like months?

2) Is the problem related to Tuner capture only, or does it affect both Tuner and Composite-In capture?

3) Is there any we can do to prod ATI along?

Let's get our terminology straight, guys.

It's true that owners of ATI cards with a rage theatre chipset can't record a show and watch it at the same time (not to be confused with live streaming).

When you talk about live streaming (as Ken All-in-Wonder did) you need to be a little clearer on what you're trying to achieve.

Stream live TV to the inter/intranet? You can do this, and don't actually need SnapStream.

Do you want to stream to the inter/intranet shows that SnapStream has recorded? You can do that as well.

The uses for live streaming where SnapStream is involved are few - I can really only think of one....watching the show that you're actually recording (a local, single machine, standalone type of use)

Most other forms of live streaming can be achieved within the boundaries that exist due to the ATI/SnapStream issue.

What I mean by "Live Streaming" is taking Live (not prerecorded) input (tuner or composite) and stream it over my intranet.

- Tuner input allows me to watch whatever channel I want.
- Composite input allows me to watch whatever is playing on my entertainment system (DVD, VCR, Security Cam).

> Stream live TV to the inter/intranet? You can do this, and don't actually need SnapStream.

How?

i DON'T have an ATI card (i'm not even sure really what kind of card i have. probably some onboard type of chip given that i'm on a compaq machine).

i can record fine, but would very much like to be able to watch the show i'm recording as it's being recorded. i too am unable to do this and get the same message about an unreachable network.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

JKeats:

What if you select the option to watch in the embedded browser window as opposed to a separate windows media player window? does that work?

4a) Is the ATI Theater capture problem in all versions of SnapStream or just v2.0?

4b) If just v2.0, can we get an earlier version?

Well, after checking back every day for over 12 days without an answer or acknowledgment of any of my questions I guess I'm done.

No sale.

Ken AIW

You are the lucky one.

I actually purchased this program believing that it would do what they said only to discover the caveat AFTER installation with regards to the AIW cards.

I do not believe they are trying to solve this issue. Indeed it probably has no solution and, quite frankly, they should just own up to that so AIW owners don't just hang on in hope.

Can we have a definitive answer plaese as to whether this problem has a solution and what steps you are currently taking to find it?

Not the "we are working closely with ATI" bunkum.

If its an ATI driver issue then let us owners know so that we can badger ATI aswell. If its your problem then pull your finger out.

Ken All in Wonder, mgibbons:

We have received new beta drivers from ATI which seem to have solved the incompatibility issue regarding live streaming. However ATI will not allow us to send those drivers or to distribute those drivers. So, to get the new drivers you are waiting on ATI.

Secondly, even if the new drivers are available tomorrow, using SnapStream version 2.0 you will still not be able to watch a recording, since we discovered this problem before we released version 2.0, this is something we coded specifically for ATI cards with the Rage Theater chip. So once ATI releases those drivers, we will release an update which will enable users with the ATI Rage Theater chip to use the watch a live recording feature.

This IS good news - is there any expected timeframe on this? Days, weeks, months?

Appreciate this is down to ATI in the main.

Ken AIW:

Re: streaming live to your intranet / the internet.

Download a streaming server from Microsoft or RealNetworks.
