Won't record audio
<rant> Hmm...seems like getting an e-mail answered is actually impossible from SnapStream. I've tried e-mailing tech support twice, no response, I've also tried e-mailing to get on the beta team and no response from there eiher. Not quite a good way to run a company that was actually in Gates' keynote on XP. With such a great product, you'd think that they would have good tech support. And what's more interesting is that I can't get a response on the beta e-mail either...and with my beta experience, that's definitely highly strange. I've never been rejected from a beta I've applied for. I'm even planning on making it a career in the next few months. If only I could have a crack at working on staff in the beta department...it would definitely be refomed...</rant>
Anyways... Anyone having problems capturing audio with the video. I have a Hauppauge WinTV PCI card in Windows XP Pro and the video captures beautifully. But no matter what I do, it won't capture the audio. I've gone though the info on the web site, changed the recording source, tried using audio-in on my sound card (SB Live value), tried using Aux-In, nothing works. Any ideas? |

Let me guess. WDM drivers for the Hauppage card? There is your problem and there is a quite lengthy thread with it mentioned. The next version will have a fix for this but it is really not a snapstream problem. The no audio problem is a problem with other third party software too. A temp fix would be to use the VFW drivers until the new version comes out.

Oh so not true. Actually, InterVideo's WinDVR program recorded audio just fine for me. As did the MP3 audio encoder on the Hauppauge web site. But MS's Movie Maker also has the audio problem. So just saying that it's solely Hauppauge's problem and no 3rd party software works properly is just not right. If InterVideo can get it to work, why can't anyone else? Hauppauge's WDM drivers are MS certified to be 100% properly written in the WDM driver model for Windows XP. Seems to me that it should work, unless I'm missing something.
Also, anyone from SS wanna comment on why you don't answer e-mails? |

Humm. The drivers are XP certified but didn't work with MS Movie Maker that was bundled in XP? Humm... seems kinda curious to me? What does XP certified really mean? Just like thier claims that other third party browsers didn't adhere to a standard that thier MSN webpage didn't stand up too either.
Thier is a fix but it wasn't a completely SNAPSTREAM problem. But it's due out in the next version. I'm not shifting blame all on Hauppage but others are having problems with their new WDM drivers. I've seen it on other boards too. As for tech support emails? ???? ------------------ Current Projects: Rav4MP3 Snapstream Support Page
