Trial Install video troubles.

I'm using an Nvidia GFfx5600 with VIVO. I can see video in windows (XP Pro) if I go to Windows Movie Maker. When I run the setup wizard though, I get the message 'recording/viewing engine could not start'. Any ideas why? I don't have a remote or a tuning method yet (Satellite TV). Could this be why? I would like to see the video quality before buying a tuning cable.

well I don’t really know the exact cause, you should make sure you have directx 9 installed and have the latest drivers from nvida for your graphics card.

I have all the latest drivers installed, including DirectX 9b. I found it strange that the video input worked well in Windows, but there were errors in Beyond TV. I'm currently a Windows MCE user, but I'd really like to give Snapstream a try. It seems leke there are some features that I'd really like in Beyond TV. I do realize that my input card is not 'approved' but I'm hesitant to spend $150 on a PVR-250 only to find that it doesn't work either. Does anyone know what the difference between the PVR-250 and the PVR-250MCE is? I wouldn't mind getting the PVR-250MCE if it would work with snapstream as well.

If you take a look around this site, you'll pull up some good info on everything from how to build a HTPC, to how to control your lights via girder, to which team I have picked to win the NCAA tournament.
