15-2117 Remote Ir good Rf not good.

I went out about a week ago and bought one of these Radio Shack 15-2117 ir/Rf remotes that many here have talked about and mine works just great as an IR remote but the RF part is hit or miss. It seems there must be some interference in my house that I cant find. I have treide unplugging all my wireless phones and cellphone but nada. I know there is someting going on because the little red sender in the Rf unit is always blinking. I can move it around and get it to go off for a while but if I move it a few feet it starts picking up something and blinks or stays solid most of the time.
I like the remote as it has 8 modes for all my other AV gear and has workd well in the IR mode but I wish I could get the RF module to work better. As a work around since only need RF for the PC and BTV I exended the Haupagge IR eye about 10ft and routed it to my family room as my Pc is in an adjacent spare bedroom/Home office.
Have others who have this remote had any experiences like mine or is this just my bad luck.
