Bogus Sound? SS2.0 on XP w/ ATI AIW Radeon & Audigy

I downloaded SS2.0 lite this past week, and find that the audio part of my recordings is not being handled correctly.

When I run the hardware wizard, it correctly plays the audio from my AIW when "line in" is selected. However, when a recording is done (immediately -- I didn't muck around with mixers, etc.) The audio comes from the microphone port, not "line in".

Anyone have a thought on why this is happening? To say the least, this is a gating factor for me to get the full version...

Thanks.

Read the topic named "Sound Problems" and see if it fixes the problem you're seeing.

JD: Thanks for the pointer. Symptoms seem to be the same, but your fix didn't work for me. What OS are you using?

We are going to purchase the soundblaster audigy to test in-house to figure out why so many users are having trouble with this sound card.

People are having problems with it because of the way Creative screwed up in setting up the card - to be quite frank.

They grouped all of the analog sound onto one "analog mix" channel, which absolutely sucks. I have also had to route a cable from the back of my machine to the front Line 2 in to get things to work.

Snapstream may have issues, but this one quite frankly is Creative's. (although the hw wizard should let me still pick the Analog Mix - that's a minor issue but one nonetheless)

I get the same problem with audigy sound card. I think it's because audigy cannot record from line-in .In the recording option, it just show Line-In2 and other port, but no line-in.

I'm actually having exactly the same problem with the following setup:

- ATI AIW Radeon
Driver Version 7.60-010914b-1461C-ATI
- Ensoniq AudioPCI (same as SB PCI64)
Driver Version 5.1.2535.0
- Windows XP Pro
- Intel P4 1.5GHz

In the setup wizard, I get sound, but records have none. I've tried using all available audio sources (thought maybe it was an off-by-one error). I've also manually adjusted the line-in recording volume during a scheduled recording and still nothing.

The problems go as far back as the AIW 128 !!

Everytime I restart my machine, I have to run Hardware Wizard again to select the right Audio In - otherwise my recordings have no sound!

However, the ATI TV app works fine everytime.
