LiveTV buffer clears after finished recording.

I guess you wouldn't call it a bug, but a big annoyance...

Watching LiveTV while you are recording the episode (just in case; since you can't capture the buffer into a recorded file later...another annoyance!). You timeshift a bit backwards because the dog barks, the baby cries, gotta visit the head, etc. Then all of a sudden, jerkiness, pausing, bam. You're kicked out of your current position and now watching the start of a new show!

What happened? The time was up on the recording and it finished, which wiped out the buffer and your place within it.

So now you have to go into the Recorded Shows, go through the motions to start up your recording, punch in an approximate time that you think you were at to advance to, then FF and RWD around until you find where you left off. Ahhh, ok, finally.

It would be nice if you could just keep watching as normal while the recorded show was copied off and stored away, huh?

Weird. That is the standard way I watch "Live" TV. I just set whatever I feel like watching to record this episode, let it run for a while while I go do something else and later start watching as a timeshifted show with the knowledge that I won't loose the buffer lke normal Live TV mode.

I have never encountered the behavior you describe. When the show stops recording, worst case scenario is a little freeze of the video for about 5 to 7 seconds and then the file keeps on being played.

I wonder how many people have the same problem you have

I use ZoomPlayer a lot for playback too. But never thought about using it to watch a recording while it's happening.
Bi ZP fan: Good quality. Slow motion, frame by frame, etc.

I should add that I'm watching the show that is being recorded in the "Watch LiveTV" module. NOT from the "Recorded Shows" module.

If I begin to watch a recording from the "Recorded Shows" module while it is still recording, that works fine.

But If I try to watch a show that is recording while in "LiveTV", then when the recording is finished, the live TV buffer is wiped out...no matter what position you are within it. So if you're in the middle, you get knocked out.

Newbie here, but this is similar to how both my Tivo and ReplayTV work. When a show starts recording, you lose the previous live buffer, even if the show is on the same channel. When the recording is finished, the buffer is cut off again and the recorded show is saved seperately. I thought this was by design, because recordings can have different levels of compression than the live TV buffer.

Are you saying that Beyond handles this diferently? For example, you have a show recording at a low quality. When the show is finished, it changes the quality on the fly (to the live buffer) and keeps recording? So you can rewind back into the recorded show? I don't see how this would work.
