Hauppauge PVR 250 remote button setup

are there instructions or reference files to help set up the Hauppauge remote control for beyond TV?

I assume that you have it working, since your title says "button setup".

It is controlled by a the file Irremote.ini in the windows directory.

If the setup wiz worked correctly there will be a line in the section[Applications] that is "Beyond TV=" and a section section named [Beyond TV] that has the button defs.

All the key commands that are available are documented in the BTV help (the very last help item).

I figured out how it worked by reading other secions of the ini file. My current button defs are:

[Beyond TV]
0=0
1=1
2=2
3=3
4=4
5=5
6=6
7=7
8=8
9=9
MUTE=
FULLSCREEN=p
CHNLUP={up}
CHNLDOWN={down}
VOLUP={right}
VOLDOWN={left}
OK={enter}

PLAY=p
REWIND={left}
FASTFWD={right}
SKIPFWD=.
SKIPREV=,
GRNPOWER=g
GO={space}

Has to do with house layout, I leave the room to answer the phone, would never use it.

I did my setup by reading the users guide and trying to pick those things that I do most, if that doesn't work, I grab for the wireless keyboard/mouse (on the end-table nearby).

The truth: I would not get a 100% in a test consisting of "what does this button do". I set it up months ago and now use 1/2 of the buttons.
