Multiple Monitor support

I have a NVidea GeForce 4 Mx 440. This card has the NView feature that let's me output composite video data as a second monitor.

Microsoft Media player is quite smart as it knows to play video full screen on the TV monitor.

I want Beyond TV to display on the video monitor too so it keeps the Main PC monitor free for other work.

I run the card in Dual View mode.

The regular tricks such as dragging the window to the TV monitor and maximize works but pressing F11 causes this error:

"Could not reset 3D device. The D3D application will now exit"

Next the BTV startup menu appears again on the main primary Monitor.

The PC has DirectX 9 on it.

So, can I control on which monitor BTV displays full screen?

You can launch BTV with the video monitor as primary, then switch the primary ro the other monitor. This reportedly works.

My solution is to keep the video monitor (TV in my case) primary always, and to use the NView software to relocate apps and dialog boxes to the secondary monitor. This works great most of the time, but you'll sometimes have to use the menus to move a misbehaving app into view.

I do what VDO does only I use UlatraMon.

It's not perfect, but it's primarily and HTPC so it's acceptable.

I believe NView and HydraVision (ATI) offer similar features. I am using an ATI card and didn't like HydraVision much, found I liked UltraMon, so I went with that.

I've found that's not much of a solution. In addition to having to move all my new icons from the TV to the monitor, there are, as was stated above, problems with Nview's window repositioning. For instance, Photoshop starts up on my secondary monitor, as I've set it to, but when I save an image, the jpg options pop up on the TV.

If BTV allowed you to choose it's default monitor, I wouldn't need to rely on Nview as much and I could have BTV running on a TV in another room while I worked on my PC.

Currently the build for 3.5 IS remembering the default monitor, but it may change, because of other issues this has presented. Heres crossing our fingers

And before you ask, the timeframe for 3.5 or the public beta of 3.5 is not yet known.
