Sort recordings by name?

OK, last stupid question of the day: Is there any way to have BTV display my list of recordings sorted by name rather than date recorded?

A better solution to this is suspected to be included in 3.5 including folder navigation and/or sorting by names. Ofcourse no details are final yet, so it may still change.

Here is a workaround I had posted several months ago however, that will still work with this version:

(1) In explorer you need to create folders for all of your the show titles and go ahead and place those in there. You can create categories as well if you want. For example I have Simpsons, South Park, ..., Movies.
(2) On WebGUI, select Config, Video Folders
(3) Create New Video Folder (for each one you made) CREATE THEM IN THE ORDER YOU WANT THEM TO APPEAR. IE I have Movies last, as I want everything to be before that. There is no way to change the position after you create them without restarting this step that I know of.
(4) On WebGUI, select Record
(5) Right-mouse clik each show, select Edit, Advanced Information. On Target Video Folder click Override default, select the folder.
(6) Go ahead and move all of your files (already recorded) into the correct folders
(7) Future files will record directly into those folders
(8) Your GUIDE now displays them in the order of folders, then in the order that was recorded.

Total setup time about 30 minutes for 20 shows but this lets sort them by show name as well as category."

And another trick is to change step 5 so that you change the Target Video Folder for recompression, instead of just the standard recording. Doing this will make the shows that are not recompressed yet display at the top of your list, effectively placing the shows for that day on top, and then the sorted shows follow...

The more I hear of 3.5 the better it sounds

Maybe they should post an official 'things we are working on for 3.5' sticky, not to be tied too, but just so people can see what is being planned - sort of a short term roadmap for those of us not on the beta programme.

nah, then the general public would misread it as a "PROMISE" thread, and lench them if something got moved or delayed. Technically aside from Rkuo's statement on the API, all other comments you will realize on the *public* boards should have a tag line statement that they are just "rumors" or heard on a grapevine. Another problem that comes with that thread is the consistant question, "when?"

With that said, if you search for 3.5 on the public boards you will find a roadmap posted by one user somewhere in there, I forget who though.

Sorted by folder, all, series. Date is newer first, older last.
