SVCD now works great with 3.4

After upgrading to 3.4, I was VERY happy to find that the previous issue of not being able to record audio to 44kHz has been resolved. Now I can use my Win-TV 250 PVR to record in a SVCD format, and burn straight to CD without having to re-encode or re-multiplex.

I just take my file straight to ULead DVD movie factory (free with Win-TV 250), edit out commercials, and burn to SVCD. Couldn't do it before because of 3.3 bugs recoding to 48kHz. The time it takes from when I load Ulead to the time I have a burnt CD is about 10 minutes.

SVCD recording profile I use:
VBR: 2200000
audio freq: 44.1kHz
dimensions: 480x480

Thanks!

That's great news!

I have a question, though....how many minutes can you squeeze into the settings you described? Only way I know of getting an hourlong show (about 49 minutes after editing out commercials) is to use a CBR bitrate calculator on dvdrhelp.com, and to use that bitrate in the setup.

Will DVD Movie factory split it up onto 2 CD's if it's too big?

How's the quality look?

Not sure how many minutes I can cram on a CD, but I know an edited hour long show will fit with my settings. I've been recording Law and Order (my goal is to get all 300+ episodes!), cutting the commercials, and it fits nicely on a CD. Movie Factory gives me a warning that the show might not fit on the CD, but it always does.

Can you post image of your complete SVCD Quality Settings

Glad to know this is working in 3.4 - it's something I've wanted because it worked so great in WinDVR with my old Nvidia Personal Cinema setup.

I use nero for burning and want to get back to doing as you are with just burning without any re-encoding etc.

Would you please post a picture/screen capture of your complete settings? Or maybe list everything from Audio, Video and Hardware Encoder Settings - it would save me some trial and error.

Thanks in advance.

Simon
