Thumbs down Thanks for the Demo

I'm glad SS provides an evaluation Demo. I tried the software out with a TV wonder VE remote edition on a protype of an Epia mini multimedia system.

In short, the product worked horribly. Video display was terrible, the remote worked incorrectly (even after installing the incorrect drivers -- version 2.2 -- that SS demands of remote wonder users...) and it was glacially slow in startup and shut down.

The native ATI tv program and gemstar system are ugly but MUCH MUCH more effective.

Back to the drawing board, folks.

there are known issues with epia systems because the video card drivers via provides do not support video accelration under directx9, they instead attempt to emulate these functions in software causing the dramatic bad video quality.

That coupled with the fact that via epia processors are "1ghz" but are basically 400mhz chips in the real world

Bad Excuse

That doesn't change the fact that the ATI software works quickly and well on the Epia system, while Snapstream's works terribly. The Epia system's video and graphics work very well for home entertainment with the combo of ATI an Windows media player. I get great response for TV as well as with DVD playback, MP3 playback, etc.

If ATI can get it to work, others ought to be able to. Too bad snapstream's latest release doesn't... I really like the look and feel of BTV much better.

This is a case of Apples and Oranges... the ATI software simply displays the TV images, while the Snapstream software is actually recording so that you can do all the extra nice things with it.
