Exclamation XMLTV Web guide

HI All...

I am a Canadian user (eh) and have configured the XMLTV option and the webguide running on an IIS server. One issue, once I do an import of data into a clean (non-protected) database, it works flawlessly.

Then for some reason, the database gets password protected and the guide fails on line 83 of guide.asp, looking for the db password.

Any thoughts?? I am stumped.

Thanks
Mike

When snapstream starts up, it checks to see if the epg database is password protected, and if not, it re-applies the password to the database.

To solve this, you can do one of two things...

1) Setup 2 separate xmltv importers, populating 2 separate epg databases... Not a very practical solution.

Or

Edit the prog.asp and guide.asp files that come with the web-based guide to include the ss_pvs_db.mdb password. The lines to change are:

DSNPassword = "" ' DSN password for SS

Given that information about the ss password was removed from the online documentation, I probably shouldn't post it here, but if you download the xmltv importer sourcecode from http://pvsxmlimport.sourceforge.net you should be able to find the ss epg db password :-)

I 'm having the same problem. I tried the password. I think I found it in the sourcecode. I didn't solve the problem. The error I get is:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access-driver] can (unknown) not use. The file is already in use.
/guide.asp, line 83

I translate the word from dutch to english so The error message on a englisch XP machine could be different.

I upgrade to Beta 3.4 , and am now using the Snapstream.NET international EPG....

Though this hasn't fixed the issue, it has kept things running.

Looks like the ONLY support added is for Canada.

Try sending a message to SnapStream support, they were extremely helpful to me.

Thanks
Mike

If you don't rely on the Web guide to make scheduled recordings you can try my Web based program guide.

It doesn't rely on the Beyond TV database, but instead of the content produced by my XMLTV importer and was designed to support the upcoming 3.5 release of Beyond TV.

Recording features of the web based program guide will be added with the release of Beyond TV 3.5

Regards,
Stéphane.

The only issue that I have with your xmltv importer is that the shows get much shorter name than with the old xmltv importer... And yes... the problem is that I'm trying to install this web guide in order to schedule recordings...
