Streaming and WMP Problems

Hi There,

When I record something I have SS re-compress the video from mpg to wmv after it is done.

EVERY time I try to stream the video, WMP tells me if cannot play that file.

Here is the exact error message:

"Windows Media Player cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline"

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Thanos

I am having this identical problem. Anyone have a resolution? I can stream live TV over the network, just not recorded WMV's.

Thanks.

I was able to resolve it by changing my streaming port. I don't know why the default didn't work, it was defenitly not being blocked by my firewall, but I changed it to 8081 and everything is working fine now.

8080 is a common proxy port it is used by a good number of "POP up blockers" and other proxy filters.

Nope, that wasn't it. I think it might have been a conflict on the server with Windows Media Streaming services, although I disabled the services and it didn't resolve it, I might have missed one.

Besides, it was the 1723 (I think that wa it) that I changed to 8081. I can stream live TV on 8080 just fine.

It worked for me!

I am on a strict network, and the streaming port for over the net ( not the live tv thing ) but the 1755 is better suited for 8888.

I am watching it now, and it had never worked before.
