Re: Scanning Folder Never Ends!

My problem started a couple of months ago when I added the 2 TB drive and the extra tuners. My power supply (500W) was strained and I started to get random crashes and flaky video glitches. This is the time that I lost the "I:" drive and did not realize it until last week.

The drive was still good but I am getting the forever scan when I added it back into BTV. Also BTV is scanning forever the G (2TB) drive as well.

Even though the WebAdmin says that it is scanning the G drive, it is listed in the pool and all the videos appear in the Recorded section of ViewScape, and new videos that are recorded appear instantly when they start recording. The I drive that I added does not appear anywhere in BTV/WebAdmin.

I have don't complete Scandisk with full surface scan on both and they are good.

Re: Scanning Folder Never Ends!

Ok! I'm good to go again!

What I did:

1. I shut down BTV

2. I renamed the Libraryfolders.db to Libraryfolders.old

3. I ran The BTV Setup Wizard (just kept hitting NEXT, changed nothing).

4. Loaded BTV.

5. Went into the WebAdmin and added all my recording folders back.

All is fine now.

I had to run the setup wizard because the WebAdmin would not load after deleting the libraryfolders.db file. I guess that the setup wizard recreated it.

Now I know what has to be done if this conditions happens again in the future.

But truth be told, on the rare occurrence when I did have to actually shut down the HTPC, I always had this nagging worry that it would never start up again. But my fears were unfounded. Whew!

I had to build a new HTPC, primarily because it was still running 6 year old technology and as BTV evolved to include new things like digital recordings, HD, h.264 and other features like multiple simultaneous showsqueezes, smartchapter generation, and DVD recording, the 6-year old single core Athlon just couldn't keep up.
