Re: clear qam

I am using the HVR-1950 from Hauppauge and it is a fine tuner. It is a hybrid HD/Analog tuner and is fully supported by BTV 4.9.

Problem with this tuner is that it does not have hardware encoder for analog. The 1950 does.

Re: clear qam

I didn't realize that the 950Q doesn't have any hardware encoding for analog. I guess it just depends on if LORENJOHNS want a tuner that supports more than QAM or not.

It records analog but uses the CPU for encoding.

Re: clear qam

Either tuner will work fine if you are just going to use it for QAM.

The HVR-950Q retails for $99 and the HVR-1950 retails for $149.
