Vista 64bit and LiveTV

This might very well be a Vista 64bit issue [perhaps a 4gb issue].

When going to LiveTV my video is non-watchable, it stutters badly. I have changed the default playback settings, disabled the hardware overlay and neither seems to help.

After going into ViewScape about three times I know get a error telling me that the channel is not there and would I like to chose another channel from the guide (or something like that). Even after closing BTV from the task try I am unable to watch that channel again. Also when this message appears I hear some rather loud audio popping - perhaps that is just BTV releasing itself from hardware since it can not start up the channel.

Re: Vista 64bit and LiveTV

Perhaps Vista 64bit is not support at all - if so I'll STFU now.

Re: Vista 64bit and LiveTV

okay, I rebooted [after leaving default playback settings, disabled the hardware overlay set] and it seems corrected. Perhaps when I ran BTV with Hardware Overlay it mucked things up and a reboot was required.

Re: Vista 64bit and LiveTV

There is apparently a memory mapping problem with vista x64 when 4GB memory is used that seems to cause issues with the pvr-150 (see threads here - http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/forumdisplay.php?f=75), video cards and sound cards. I have had to force my system to startup with 3GB memory selected (from msconfig/boot/advanced options) to have my pvr-150 work well and my AGP card to not suddenly slow down in framerate. Some people have temporarily disabled the memory remap option in their BIOS which gives them less useable memory but avoids memory conflicts. Many of us are hoping that this issue is fixed in SP1 for vista X64.

Re: Vista 64bit and LiveTV

Yes, I am well aware of odd issues with 4GB and above with Vista64 (which is why I listed it in my first post). However, since MS KB 940105 it's been rather stable. Granted that is only a Hotfix and MS has stated somewhere the Hotfix my continue to change (up to an including SP1 I believe).

Re: Vista 64bit and LiveTV

940105 did nothing for me, maybe because I'm using an AGP card, not pci-express - who knows! Anyway just a quick question. You talk about disabling harware overlay - do you mean disabling hardware interlace? I run with 3D accelerated (not overlay) and hardware interlace disabled. Turning on hardware interlace results in low frame rates and jerky playback.

Re: Vista 64bit and LiveTV

most likely an issue with the PVR-150 and Vista64 w/ 4gb issue, i know that hauppauge knows about this issue and they do not have a fix for it yet
