Problems accessing beta.snapstream.com

Can anyone help with this problem?

I cannot access beta.snapstream.com from home. My internet access works fine, I see no problems at the Snapstream site except forums seems a bit touchy at times. Strangely I can access the beta site with no problem from work and also I can access the beta site when I log into work from home over VPN. I have registered but ran into a similar problem when I tried to download the latest betas. Through work access I can navigate the beta site but I couldn't download anything. I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

thanks

Re: Problems accessing beta.snapstream.com

First off, you're using IE, (just kidding, but try Firefox, that will eliminate browser issues)

It might have been traffic issues, so it might be back. If it is persistent, try Firefox, if that doesn't work, check your host file (in XP - C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc). Also, disable any firewall, connect directly to your modem (bypass router) see what happens. Also run a spybot scan of your computer, the first thing the cable/dsl provider will blame is spyware on your machine. Run a manual virus scan as well.

Now, if you still have issues, ideally you want to check another computer, a friend's or a laptop would be ideal. I had an issue on my comcast service where certain webpages refused to work right, finally turned out to by my cable modem, download was fine but upload speed had issues, so some webpages took forever to load and timed out. New modem fixed things.

Re: Problems accessing beta.snapstream.com

On the SiliconDust forum someone was complaining of the same issue, because he had the port 8080 blocked in his firewall settings...

Re: Problems accessing beta.snapstream.com

I tried Firefox but no change. I set DMZ for my IP address on my router. I can't hookup my PC directly to the router because someone else here plays WOW all day. I disabled Windows firewall as well but no change.

I suspect there is something odd about the Snapstream beta web server. I have a similar problem with unresponsiveness at Audible.com. Whereas Amazon or Tom's Hardware or just about everywhere else on the Net are always extremely responsive. So I am reluctant to blame my equipment.

I wanted to hear if others are seeing the same problem I'm having. I'll keep trying from time to time, if they change or update something I may have better luck in the future.

Also having problems accessing beta.snapstream.com via Sympatico DSL. Firefox or IE. Added 8080 to firewall. Firewalls on or off. Nothing has worked so far. Anyone figured out what the common link is? Do the beta server observe Easter??

Re: Problems accessing beta.snapstream.com

The Beta is currently finished... so what would the current need be to access the server?

There are still plenty of unfixed bugs/requested features...
