performance issue using network share

I have an issue when I include the share on my server where I store my mpeg library. With BTV 3.5 it is unuseable (very slow). With 3.7 it is much better but still too slow bring up the list in a reasonable amount of time. However using BM it works well so clearly there is something different about the way the two apps access the share. What gives? If I point to a small share it's fine (one sub and 10 files. However the server has many sub-directories and contains around 900 gigs of files.

While I realize that this is not a bug but it is something I think needs to be addressed.

TIA...

The UNC issue revolved around BTV picking up the new shows on a remote drive. To the best of my knowledge, this was not performace related.
