HVR 2250 QAM & Analog Q?

I'm new to the forums so I would like to first say hi to everyone.

I'm currently using the trial ver. of BTV. The only thing stopping the purchase is the issue Im about to post.

I'm running BTV under Windows XP Pro SP3 and up to date on all patches. I'm using the HVR-2250 which is the only tuner card installed.

When I ran initial setup I did a analog channel search on tuner #1, the I did a QAM search also on tuner #1. I did find and map my available channels on both searches. Which gave me two snapstream choices in admin panel.

I would like to eliminate the analog channels that I have available in QAM without switching snapstreams. One snapstream w/ both analog and digital station when available. Or is there a way to switch snapstreams on the fly?
I'm not sure if my options are limited to the trial ver. of the software or if the functionality just isn't there.

Thanks for any help and sorry for the lengthy post.

Re: HVR 2250 QAM & Analog Q?

By snapstreams...I'm guessing you mean lineups. BTV merges all the lineups together when you are out of setup. So your guide will show the analog and clear QAM channels.

Also note, you should also setup the other tuner on your 2250. After you have setup the tuner, you should have 2 QAM tuners and 2 analog tuners listed in BTV.

You should always review your BTV Log if you have issues.

Re: HVR 2250 QAM & Analog Q?

The other thing that should be done is in the Audio and Video Inputs under Basic Settings of the webadmin, make sure the QAMs are listed before the analogs. That way, if you tune a channel that you receive in QAM, it will tune to it instead of analog. I think that's what you're really after, at least the way I read it.

Re: HVR 2250 QAM & Analog Q?

I would like to thank both of you. You both pointed me in the right direction. Upon moving the QAM above the the analog I got half way to the fix. The fact that BTV merges the line-up's also set off the light bulb in my head. After I went into the analog line-up and hid the corresponding analog channels everything worked great!

Now I just have to setup tuner #2 analog/QAM and Ill be watching and recording in no time flat!

Snapstream owes you two a comission, you just made a sale!

Re: HVR 2250 QAM & Analog Q?

Like I said in the above post, this solution only got me half-way through the problem. I moved the QAM tuner to the top of the list. When I launched BTV I would be on channel 2 QAM. When I changed channels to a analog station that also worked. But once I tuned to analog and tried to go back to channel 2 I would get channel 2 analog not QAM. Once I went into the analog line-up and hid the corresponding channels everything worked fine.

I think i read somewhere that is an issue with the 2250's driver, have you tried the beta driver on the hauppauge website?

No, I tend to avoid beta drivers unless there is no other option. Its working so I'm not gonna mess w/ it. At least now if someone has the same issue they can find a work-around here. I'm usually pretty good about keeping my drivers up to date. When a new stable driver comes out Ill test and post the results.
