Cannot Play DVD through BM
On a new machine with Vista I recently evaluated Sage and Beyond TV. Sage required a video knowledge that I did not want to invest in. So I opted for Beyond TV.
Loaded Beyond TV and removed Sage. After that My HD tuners would not work. Attembted to do a restore point from Vista without success. Finally gave up and re formatted with an install of XP Pro SP2. HD Tuners work now and all was good. Installed Beyond Media and tried to play DVD Libarary. Got an error message and a shut down of BM. Read forums and tried adding codecs stuff to the xml file to no avail. Loaded WIN DVD Trial to see if that was the problem. WIN DVD works fine stand alone but BM DVD still does not work. Un installed BM and re installed without success on the DVD front. There must be a simple spolution to this that I am missing. Anybody got the answer.

Re: Cannot Play DVD through BM
Stop using BM. It was good but stand alone is better. Use Firefly to launch PowerDVD.

Re: Cannot Play DVD through BM
It worked if you used the original setup. I upgraded PowerDVD twice and then found it better as a stand alone player. You have to make some ini changes for newer versions of PowerDVD.
My specific issues were with the surround sound switching to stereo. BM is great if you have a small database of music and photos. It's not so good if you have a large amount of music. What I did in the end was to use Firefly to launch the programs I use the most (PowerDVD. Media Monkey). You can also program BM to launch the programs. Since BTV runs all the time I found it pointless to use BM to launch it. For photos I use webshots. I enjoyed BM and it has a lot of features available in Windows Media Center and I never use it. It seems that I have just out grown BM and I'm too old school for Media Center.
