Final Configuration

I am posting this to contribute back to the forum. New users will probably face the same confusing issues that I did when I bought the HVR-1600, Beyond Media with the Firefly remote control. Please feel free to correct me if I hooked up something wrong.

When I bought this bundle, I could not even figure out how to hook up the cable....it is not intuitive at all.

For my particular installation that worked, I took the cable straight from the wall and plugged it directly into the top bnc connector of the cable box then the output of the cable box to the BNC Connector, (long one) on the hvr-1600.

Next, since I had just installed the software that came with the Hauppauge hvr-1600, I could not get any channels at all. When I installed the Beyond Media, Voila, all my channels started appearing. At this point I started feeling my masculinity coming back until I could not get any sound.......arrrrrrrrrgh.

I have a ATI Catalyst card with a HDMI output which I connected to my television. I was told that it was able to carry video and audio....4 crown and cokes later....I called my buddy and he told me to disable the audio on the Mother board because it might be having an IRQ conflict. I did that, and Voila again...my sounds started to work.

Another point that was brought up in another thread was that the IR Blaster has to be stuck directly to the glass on the Cable box to work. I will keep you posted on my progress.

Dom,
You really should make your posts under the correct forum heading. This location is for Beyond Media which is a separate program (sadly) from BeyondTV.
That way your posts will get more exposure.
