Artist / Genre / Album lists not recognizing information in tags
New user to Beyond Media and I'm well aware I may be messing something up. After pointing Beyond Media at my music folder (stored in a 500G external USB drive on the Media Center machine) it scanned and "added" the files.
I can see everything fine through folder browsing but it appears to me that Beyond Media hasn't read any of the tags as only .WMA files come up under Genre, Artist or Album browsing menus. I'd really love it if someone would tell me I didn't just spend 50 bucks for a program that won't read mp3 tags. Thanks, Andy |

Re: Artist / Genre / Album lists not recognizing information in tags
Well, for one, i can say it DOES read MP3 tags. For another i can say you did throw $50 bucks away on this software. But, alas you are now the proud owner of deadware so lets see if we cant get it running for you. First, are the media files also scanned into your Windows Media Player Library? i have found quite often my new albums would not show up untill they were viewable in WMP. Also you will have to make sure all your album art is viewabe in WMP also before BM will show it. Now at this point BM will be able to play WMA's MP3's and WAV's. Too play anything in addition to that please see my "adding new file types" thread. THis will also help you with the newer Video formats also <as BM will not play .MKV .MOV .VOB .DiVX etc without major modification of the XML files.> If you purchase PureVideo or a higher version of PowerDVD then v5 then you will also need to find the threads for adding/modifing the codec calls in teh XML files. All and all i hope you like digging through configuration files, for it is your future. I dropped BM for another FREE software that does everything it did plus a whole lot more. Good Luck

Re: Artist / Genre / Album lists not recognizing information in tags
Nope - I bet that's it. I dropped Windows Media Player like a rock many, many years ago. I didn't realize the Beyond Media front end was dependent on WMP. I use Winamp and Media Monkey to listen - most times you wouldn't know Windows Media was on one of my systems unless you went looking for it.
I'll pull the library in on Windows Media tonight and let Beyond Media try again. Maybe it will work. Thank you for the pointer and I'll repost my final results. Andy |
