Hardware upgrade suggestions

I am looking to upgrade the hardware in my PC that I run beyond media on and I'm looking for suggestions. I had my pc hooked up to an old tv and when I upgraded to an HDTV I noticed that the digital channels looked really blurry. What video cards and input/output cables do you guys recommend. I understand that getting an HDTV signal from my box to my TV is difficult and I'll settle for crisp looking regular channels.

Right now I have a signal coming from my cable box via coaxial cable to my PC, and a VGA connection from my PC to my TV.

Thanks

Re: Hardware upgrade suggestions

Thanks for the reply.

Right now I have a P4 2.4 processor with 1 gig of ram, and an 300 gig hard drive. I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 to capture the feed from my cable box via coax, and a Radeon AGP 9700 Pro to output via VGA to my TV.

Re: Hardware upgrade suggestions

What i would do actually is just upgrade that system with a video card and if you need to upgrade later, make that a Link computer and build a nice dual core system.

Re: Hardware upgrade suggestions

Thanks for the reply.

What video card would you suggest? Would you also suggest upgrading the Hauppauge card I'm using? Also I'm not familiar with the term 'link computer', could you expand upon that?
