Has anyone solved the DVD closed-caption problem in BM?

I have the same issue as other have had with closed-captioning in Beyond Media during DVD playback. As in, I can't turn them off when playing any DVD whatsoever.

The reason I say it is closed-captioning is, there are ambient sound descriptions like "panting, footsteps" ... subtitles usually don't have those. Also, if I turn on the subs... they appear in addition to the captions so that I have 2 sets onscreen.

The turning-off-and-on of the codec doesn't work for me (as was mentioned in the other, older thread), and I'm not seeing any other useful info on the site. There's only the one DVD codec installed anyway... I had an NVIDIA codec as well, but uninstalling it didn't fix anything.

This is an XP Pro system, and I'm happy to provide any other specs if needed.

So... yeah. Just wondering if anyone's been able to figure out what does this. Thanks for any help in advance.

I fixed it by uninstalling PowerDVD, then running setup again on Beyond media

I had the same problem (was makin me crazy). For me it was having audio decoder set to none. Do you have an audio decoder set in BM?
