Finally something I can do something about. Please save stories.xml to a different name - I may need to see it if I can't figure out what caused this. After storie.xml is gone, a new one should generate after you start up BM again.

That fixed the problem. I waited for a new Stories.xml file to be generated, exited BM, restarted and there was no crash.

Sorry, I've been busy lately and likely will be for the rest of the month. Every website provides its challenges so it takes some time too but I'm hoping to have something new in January sometime when I can start up again. I'm looking at in2tv (uses Mediaplayer encryption so I would need to figure out how to generate a key) and abc which I had gotten to the point of finding the show data but stopped when I found out they were flv files.

Cool Re: [plugin] Web Videos (November 27 Update)

Wow, this is the best BM plug-in ever. I would volunteer my help but I don’t have any programming experience. I have been waiting for some one to developed something like this. This is great

Re: [plugin] Web Videos (November 27 Update)

I know this has been brought up before, but take this as a vote for adding Yahoo Music Videos as video source. I've been playing with MediaPortal lately (decided to stick with BeyondMedia as the primary interface, but I kept MP around as an item in the BM menu because of the music player and some of the plugins), and found the My MusicVideos plugin for MP to be totally addicting. It let you build playlists of music videos, and I've had the thing playing almost non-stop for days now....

Re: [plugin] Web Videos (November 27 Update)

I agree this is one of the best plugins for BM, I gave MP a shot but found it to be to frustrating in the end and switched to BM and find it to be a welcomed addition and now things are finally coming along on my htpc. I look forward to further updates on this plug in to include NBC and You tube? or ABC good to see he is actively working on it. AGAIN THanks!!!!!! you rock

Re: [plugin] Web Videos (November 27 Update)

How about supporting foreign "channels" like these 2 programs do:

Re: [plugin] Web Videos (November 27 Update)

You may not have noticed but the video window does not fully cover the Beyond Media background. I have a light bluish line on both sides and the bottom with the defaul BM skin. Can I fix this or does the program need a little tweaking?

BTW This has got to be the greatest plugin ever!!!!

I'm afraid it is a "feature" of BM. There should be 2 ways to cover the whole screen:

1. I put the viewscape in fullscreen mode - this unfortunately takes away control from the remote and won't let you escape out of a video if you want.

2. I set the width and height to -1 - this doesn't work. Snapstream has done a decent job of emulating mediacenter web functionality but there are a few things missing and this is one of them.

So I've just accepted the current solution as good enough. What I do is make a best guess at the size I need (you could be using standard or widescreen) and set the size.

Re: [plugin] Web Videos (November 27 Update)

Addihul-

Did you ever resolve your "audio only" issue. I am having the same issue on my box.

When selecting any video to play, all I get is the audio and a black screen. I also lose the ability to exit out of the video screen using Firefly "exit" button, although I am able to use "pause", "stop", "volume" etc. on the Firefly.

I will work on it tonight after work, can't stop 'till it's fixed...

Now, if mockware can add a Netflix menu choice for their "Watch Now"... Wait, that's a plugin on its' own and one I am hoping comes along...

Re: [plugin] Web Videos (November 27 Update)

I solved my problem last night. I decided to look at the stories.xml file to get an address of one of the videos that wouldn't play and open it in directly in Win Media Player 11. It played fine, but I did notice that when I opened I had it set to skin mode>classic skin.

When I changed it back to full mode, closed it, then retried the web videos plugin - everything worked fine. It must be that Media Player skin mode isn't liked by the plugin.

Re: [plugin] Web Videos (November 27 Update)

It looks like CBS is making some of their content available to other applications such as Joost and Slingbox Media. I really think web video will continue to evolve and will some day become a viable alternative to Cable/Satellite TV. If you're interested you can read more about it here.

Along the lines of web video and your plugin, do you have any plans to add more content providers mockware? I actually do use your plugin and would love to see more in the future.

Thanks!

I've lost the programming bug at the moment and have been playing with other things. Right now I have to say that until I see Snapstream decide to do something with BM, I really don't have much motivation. In another month or two, I might get back to it. If anyone is interested in adding to the code or taking over, I don't mind providing the sourcecode to them. They just have to let me contribute in the future when/if I get the urge again.
