Re: [plugin] DVD Library (Jan 24 Update)

This seems to be an awesome plugin!! I am having one issue, though - hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. After installing the plugin, I went to "Settings->DVD Library->Import Options to configure. Unfortunately, this control does not seem to be functional (at least on my PC.) This is a fresh install w/ only the "Moon" background plugin installed. I have not used any previous versions of the plugin. Let me know if there is any additional info. that I can supply. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Now please get link to work, please! I have both my BTV movies and DVD copies on one drive that is networked. I'm hoping it won't be too hard.

My mistake, the package was missing a file. Updating it right now, so redownload if you downloaded it before this message.

Re: [plugin] DVD Library (Jan 24 Update)

Great job Jason! Thanks for your continued interest & support for this feature which SS should have put in in the first place. I am sure this thread will continue getting the # of hits as its predessor despite the lack of one particular capability. Thanks once again.

Re: [plugin] DVD Library (Jan 24 Update)

I'm really looking forward to the ability to "force" something into the database. Many of my favorite DVDs are mini-series or TV show seasons. I hope this ability is high on the priority list!

Great work so far!

Re: [plugin] DVD Library (Jan 24 Update)

Has anyone posted a description of how to manually create or modify entries by editing the xml file(s)?
I haven't poked around yet, but was thinking about taking a look at that.

Re: [plugin] DVD Library (Jan 24 Update)

First, thanks for picking up the work on the plugin... I use BM much more now that I have this plugin! I'll submit some suggestions for the next version, perhaps others might also find these useful.

I'm one version or two behind so please excuse me if I'm making suggestions that have already been picked up (although I didn't notice any comments on these in the thread)

One UI suggestion... When there is no picture available, the library currently just leaves a blank space. Perhaps a "no picture available" box might be possible, or (even better) a box with the name of the movie in it.

I'd also like to second the request for allowing the user to force some information for DVDs when IMDB does not have information...

Next, it would be great to have some control over what title the plugin chooses when it pings IMDB when importing BTV recordings...

Finally, being able to edit the XML info (as a last resort) right from the plugin interface would be nice ;-)

Thanks for all the great work...

I tried editing the movies.xml file manually. But it just spits it out when you re-search for movies. It never shows up.

Try closing BM, and then editting the file. As long as you do NOT do a "complete" scan, you should be fine. Might be wise to back it up though.

Re: [plugin] DVD Library (Jan 24 Update)

Question: Can I catalog DVDs without ripping them to disk? That way, you could see all the info for the disk I've got in the drawer, and if I clicked "play this" or something, it would say "please insert disk"?

Re: [plugin] DVD Library (Jan 24 Update)

Here's a thought (like you need any more suggestions...):

Just to add to the movie-going experience...

How about adding a (strictly optional) facility to run specified or random files / trailers before starting the DVD? You could dig into the trailers downloaded by the MovieShowtimes plugin, and also reference custom AVI's or playlists for those that want to show off THX idents, etc.

For example, have a 'Preshow' option in the settings, which then lets you define a "trailers" directory, specify how many to show before the selected DVD, and / or a playlist that would include other introductory media / slideshows / etc.

I think something like this used to exist for myHTPC and, I assume, now for Meedio.

This is called "offline" browsing, its something Jason has indicated in the past was on the "todo" list.
