Re: [plugin] POP3/SSL Email (Dec 16 Update)

There is every chance it will support IMAP. I'm working on hotmail access to the inbox at the moment and if that goes OK IMAP (inbox) is next. Fiurther down the line I would want to allow other folder access but we will see how it goes, and if there is enough interest!

Cheers

Mick

Re: [plugin] POP3/SSL Email (Jan 4 Update)

Agree - killer plugin. Guys, its been a while since I've worked with this one and was waiting for some more bug fixes and add-in. Can you tell me if native HTML viewing is there yet or if the tags still show.

? - is this there or in the works.

Thanks again.....

Re: [plugin] POP3/SSL Email (Jan 4 Update)

Great job Mick!!! As soon as I'm back at home will give this a try! Thanks for your efforts

EDIT : I installed and set up the mail account but it does not seem to be able to pick up mail. The mail count shows as 0 and when I choose "List Inbox" nothing happens. I am not sure how user name should be entered (username or username@hotmail.com) so I tried both and no difference. What am I doing wrong?

On another note, would it be possible for you to implement a simple & optional security feature? This would be so that any other BM user at home does not have an easy way to peek at email. Say a 4 digit numeric code that gets entered via remote keypad each time you want to see mail. You should still get to see the mail accounts list & num of messages before the password though. This way you can see if you have messages or not without having to key in password. How does this sound?

Once again, thanks a lot!!!

Re: [plugin] POP3/SSL Email (Jan 4 Update)

Sorry it didn't work for you. Yes the username should be user@hotmail.com and the password your normal password.

The list inbox only does stuff if the count is greater that 0.

Is there anything in the BM log file? this can be found under

documents and settings\all users\application data\snapstream\beyond media\logs

The log files are one per day.

Could you also try shutting BM down and restarting it to see if the hotmail starts to work.

Sorry for you being the first!

I had thought of the 4 digit code thing and its on the list.

I am not back at home till monday so won't be able to do much until then!

Cheers

If possible, this needs to be optional. I have an email account that gets noting but notifications from ss.net for movies that meet my saved searches. Would hate to have to enter a code just to see this. Another just gets postings from this forum, so it also doesn't need pin control.

Fully agreed. No two people's usage pattern is the same. It would be best to make this an optional feature.

Mick, no need to be sorry at all! You are making a great effort. Thanks a lot. I tried once again with the confirmed username. I also checked the logs. It looks like the pasted section below. Hope it helps you in some ways. Also note after exiting and returning to BM I find that the email setup is gone and I am asked to create an email profile from scratch.

Also thanks for confirming the List behavior. I was thinking it will pull the inbox contents even if the count is 0 but now I understand.

Best Regards & Thanks

Re: [plugin] POP3/SSL Email (Jan 4 Update)

OK,just got back. Can you confirm that the pc in question has a permanent internet connection? or is some dialup in use?

Also do you use a proxy server to connect?

Cheers

Re: [plugin] POP3/SSL Email (Jan 4 Update)

Hi Mick. Hope you had a good trip. Yes, this PC is on a permanent broadband connection and there is no proxy involved. It is behind a Netgear wifi router (direct wired) though. I can browse to hotmail and read mail using IE on the same PC.

Re: [plugin] POP3/SSL Email (Jan 4 Update)

Ok cheers.

I'll have to put together a version with more debug info in for you to run. Your setup sounds exactly like mine (netgear router) so it should work OK.

I'll do this tonight when I get home from work. and email it to you

Cheers

Mick
