Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

That was quick! Thanks for adding in the option to save the posters/trailers to a different location.

Any idea why the plugin only seems to download some movie trailers for me, when there are clearly others available? (and yes i've left it until it finished downloading). For example, zip code 84601, at http://movies.yahoo.com/showtimes/sh...?z=84601&r=sim downloads some trailers like for The Aviator or the Phantom of the Opera.. but it hasn't downloaded any for The Fockers or Lemony Snicket's... Is there a way to enable a log to gather some more debug information? to see if it's parsing the pages correctly etc?

Thanks!
Paul.

The existing trailer parser is simple, non-intelligent, and makes mistakes. The biggest plan for 1.4 is a more intelligent version. I've just been doing bug fixes to every other part right now, since I want all other components as close to perfect as possible before I go and rip a mostly-functioning one apart.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

Good news, there is a solution to the Trailer skipping thing.

It requires you to own a license for Nero 6 though (the trial is working for me right now, not sure if it'll work forever).

Remove Quicktime Alternative (just to make sure we clean everything up nicely).
Install Quicktime from apple.com
Install the latest Nero Ultra package (current 6.6.0.6) - This will install new Nero DirectShow filters for QuickTime.
Play Trailer in BM.

Done.

Again, I'm currently using the Nero trial, I don't know what happens when it runs out. I guess I'll find out. QuickTime Alternative is a truely free approach, but tends to skip during playback (on my system its about once every 15 seconds). Nero may end up costing money, but produces smooth playback.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

Is the change drive/path for trailer working for anyone? I tried to click on "C:\Document and Settings...", but nothing happens. The same for when I click on any letters or numbers.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

It worked for me... However, the default directory is so long that it didn't fit on screen. I had to hold down backspace for a long time to clear out the default directory and then type in my preferred one.

Yeah, I forgot to mention, you'll have to delete for awhile since the first path is rather long.

Hi Kilrsat,

How is version 1.4 coming along?
I've been looking into the Norwegian FilmWeb and figured out how it kind of works. Just say 'when'.....

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

I've been a tad busy with things, but I thought I would post a little plan for what is in the works. I don't have any exact time table (developing multiple plugins means I can't devote a nice solid week to one like I used to), but it shouldn't be too long before most of these show up in some way or another.

To Add:
Norway listings
Singapore listings
Main menu icon
Multiple day showtime viewing

To Fix/Improve:
Appearance under BTV skin
Trailer parser
Movie details screen (make it match closely with the new DVD Library movie details screen)

Other:
Thoroughly test the alternate Nero directshow filters

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

I get alot of 'unable to play trailer' messages. I select a trailer, it waits about 5-7 seconds, then says the error.

But if I find them and play them in WMP, they work fine.

What causes this?

I haven't seen this. Is it the same trailers everytime? Are you using Quicktime Alternative or the Nero/Quicktime option?

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

I'm happy to say that I have the appearance issues under the BTV skin taken care of, so everything should be smooth sailing there. Probably a middle to end of next week release for version 1.4.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

Things Done:
Fix: Appearance under BTV
Fix: Trailer Parser
Fix: Movie details screen
Add: Main menu icon

Scheduled for 1.4:
Norway listings
Multiple day showtime viewing

I also did a quick check of every trailer I had, and the Nero/Quicktime method resulted in perfect playback everytime. The Nero/Quicktime stuff still works even after your Nero trial expires (although you can no longer burn cds/dvds) so this may be the new recommended approach. I still want to do some more testing, but I'll put up a note when I finish.

Schedule still looks good for a middle to end of next week release.

**Edit**
I was a little bored tonight and had an idea, multiple day showtime viewing is now ~75% finished. Looks like it will make the cut for 1.4 as well.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Jan 23 Update)

1.4 should be posted shortly, but before anything shows up, I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people.

So thank you to:
nmirza - for the wonderful main menu icons
Geir - without your help I couldn't have finished the Norway parser
and Brett - for being the nice little test rabbit, and graciously finding the bugs that I missed.

So it looks like I hit the anticipated time window (Friday is within the middle to end of the week range!), and I hope everyone enjoys the 1.4 version as soon as it shows up.
