Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 28 Update)

Because I feel like poking fun at the brits, here's a wonderful example of their way of listing showtimes:

"Fri-Wed 6.15pm, 9.45pm (not Fri)"

Anyone else see something a little funny in this?

Oh, and the UK parser should be finished soon. Its getting theaters, theater details, and a showtime list for each theater. Just isn't getting movie details yet.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 28 Update)

Hello,

Thank you for the outstanding plugin, it's very useful! One problem I encountered using the 1.2 version... I tried to hide theatres in the settings but it doesn't seem to work, they still show up when I go into the listings by theatre and title.
Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 28 Update)

We now have the option...

-Added option to adjust # of days it looks ahead

but does this mean if it's Friday I check Sunday and see if the movie is
no longer playing or playing at different times on Sunday???

It seems as if I can only display the movie times for the current date.

...Lump

Currently its simply the number of days worth of information downloaded. This would allow it to go a longer period of time between updates. So if you set it to 4, it could skip the next 3 days and still display the information correctly.

A browse by date option may be (probably will be) implemented in the future.

I just did a quick test hiding two theaters, then browsing by theater, browsing by title, closing Beyond Media, restarting Beyond Media, browsing by theater, browsing by title, manually updating listings, browsing by theater, and finally browsing by title.

In all cases the hidden theaters stayed hidden. If you can leave me a message with your OS, zip code, and theaters you're trying to hide. I'll do a more in depth analysis for your situation.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 28 Update)

I'm still enjoying this plugin, but I have a couple of niggles if you have a spare moment with nothing better to do...:

On the "Browse by theater/movie/..." opening screen, can you capitalize "Theater" and "Movie" so it's consistent with "Browse by Opening This Week"? Just a little presentation thing that's bugging me. :-)

I'm using a widescreen display (video card outputting 1920x1080i over DVI), and the movie posters are stretched horizontally (just like stretching 4:3 material to a 16:9 aspect ratio). I've seen this with some other icons in BM, though not with the .png icons I put in my shortcuts folder. Is there a way to correct this, or is this a BM issue?

Finally, using the BTV skin, the selection bar doesn't show up in the Showtimes screen. All other screens are fine - it's just this one where you can't see what's selected.

Thanks again for an awesome job.

Mark

Capitalization is easy, I'll get it first thing tomorrow. The posters were supposed to be resizing while maintaining aspect ratio, I'll take a look at it.

I'll investigate the BTV skin thing, not sure what would be going on to make that one skin act differently.

Great Plug-in

I see you have a screendump for Denmark, how about listings for Norway?
Use www.filmweb.no as a starting point, and please do ask me if you have any questions.

Norseman.

Norseman.
I'm just wrapping up 1.3 right now, so I really don't want to add any new features at this late stage. Norway listings will be priority #1 for 1.4. I'll probably drop you a few more notes next weekish for a few rough translations.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 28 Update)

A small nit...

The title in the main menu, "Movie Showtimes', is too long when I use full screen, it shows "Movie Showti..."

If I go off of full screen, make BM a window, it shows correctly.

A bug?

The movie 'Hotel Rwanda' is showing, I see the trailer has been downloaded in the folder for trailers, but the 'SHOW TRAILER' button is not displaying.

I see about 7 movie trailers downloaded, but only 3 have the button.....

That's all in BeyondMedia's control. We can add an entry to the menu, but its size, style, and location are all up to the main application. As far as I'm aware.

Can't really say what's going on here. A test for me from various zip codes and various countries always had a trailer option when one was downloaded.

Trailer handling had some minor tweaks in what will become version 1.3, so there's a chance that is why its working here. Otherwise, the trailer system is scheduled for an overhaul and rebuild in 1.4. Might just require a little bit of time.

Awesome doesn't even cover it! It's the biggest wow factor here. Had my daughter and her husband here and we were watching some recorded shows and he asked, if I had seen the "Aviator" at the movies yet.

So I said, no .. have you seen the trailers? After which I switched to BM and located the local theater, found the listing and show times for the "Aviator" and then proceded to play a couple trailers.

My daughter (who just bought their first house) is now complaining to me that her husband wants one for HIS house .. See what I started? heh heh
