[plugin] Movie Showtimes (August 4 Update)

I know all about the "works here but not there" thing. You have my sympathy. As mentioned in the prior post, I'm kind of swamped with projects myself and this plugin was just something I wanted to try out. Of course that doens't help you .. sorry. But if I can find the time in the next 48 hours, I'll get you the log and some detailed observations. I first want to try a re-install of it.

If you run into a black screen, drop me the Beyond Media log for the day and I can try to track it down. Logs can be found in C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\snapstream\beyond media\logs

I'd like to say these are easy to fix things, but its one of those "It works on my machine" things. I can't debug what I can't observe, and since I don't see the problems first hand I need your help to get things right. I'm willing to put in as much time as is needed to track it down and fix it, but I need someone experiencing the problem to volunteer a little bit of their time (or if they'd rather just send me their computer, that works too ).

First of all, if I haven't said so already, this is a great plugin. It gets the biggest WOW factor when I show it to family and friends.

I only get a black screen for certain movies. For example, when I go to Opening this week, and select Meet the Fockers (gotta love that name), I get a black screen. Here is a snippet of the log with the error I get:

Good news (for me) I uninstalled Beyond Media, and then installed it fresh. Left all the plugins and folder structures intact.

Upon restarting of BM I only had to re-establish my video/music folders and reset my zip code for the weather plugin and make new selections for the comics plugin.

THIS time there was a setup menu option for the Movie Showtimes plug in. (instead of a black screen) Within minutes of setting my parameters, trailers were downloaded. I thought this was a really cool item even before I got it to work. Now I have to agree with others. It's surely got the biggest "wow factor" of the plug-ins so far.

All it required for me was a re-install of Beyond Media. Love the plug-in. Thanks.

Just wanted to leave this here also, so people have an idea of what will get done and when:

Priority List:
1) Showtimes not saving to xml file correctly (all/most showtimes disappear when Beyond Media reloads)
2) Black Screen for certain movies
3) Verify efficiency/accuracy of showtime parsing
4) Improve trailer download accuracy (Works 29/30 right now, I want 30/30)
5) Fix font sizes in configuration screen
6) Improve showtimes list on movie details screen
7) Move everything up so nothing possibly overlaps the music player
8) Add option to adjust # of days it looks ahead
9) Add option to change # of theaters loaded
10) Add option to select/deselect theaters
11) Add trailer management (Manual Delete Trailer && Manual Delete Trailer + prevent redownload)
12) Add Canda switch (basically renames Zip Code to Postal Code)
13) Add Denmark showtimes

Already done/fixed:
-Trailers deleted when they shouldn't be
-Purge showtime information for previous days
-Occasional parse error getting showtimes from yahoo
-Center single line showtime lists when viewing by theater
-Movies with ~20 showtimes not listing all of them when viewing theater details

Items #1-7 on that list are fixes/improvements to what already exists and these will be the key elements to the next version. Basically, I'd be happy to call it 1.2 if it accomplished those things.

Ideally I'd like to get #8-11 included as well, but I'm not going to hold back releasing fixes just because new stuff is taking time. If it looks like adding stuff will create an intolerable delay, 1.2 will be released with just the fixes.

#12 and #13 are things I really want to add, (Canada already works unofficially) but I can't see holding the other things back just because these aren't present.

Right now I actually plan to work on it even through the holidays, so maybe there will be a late Christmas present for everybody.

I Cannot get this plug-in working. BM menu shows it, settings screen show, I have proper zip code entered, but nothing happens. No "UPDATING" screen. I have left it on this screen overnoght and still nothing. Here is part of my log..

Hope I didn't miss this issue in this thread if it has already been discussed. The Plugin seemed to work OK and is VERY COOL. Especially the trailers. But I was having some stability problems and poor performance. A peek at the Beyond Media Logs showed 12-13 entries per second similar to below.

Well this is certainly a neat one. Apparently for your zip code yahoo lists the same movie theater twice.

Add this to the already fixed list with the new development stuff. If you want an early test to make sure it works for you, leave me a message.

The following should be done:
