Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 8 Update)

I'm using the retail BM. I had the error with other plugins (Email too). So I don't think this is specific to the MovieShowtimes plugin.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 8 Update)

Thanks Geoff,

First for Mick, yes I'm using the purchased retail edition. (was one of the guys waiting at midnight for the store to open) <grin> And Geoff, I'm using Windows 2000 Pro also. I had already done #1, 2 and 3. I renamed it *.CAB and used the windows extracting cab files to un-compress them.

My problem is I don't have any such folder/directory structure. Nothing like that under documents and settings if I remember correctly. I checked the actual executable BM file and it's at C:\Program Files\SnapStream\Beyond Media\ with no further folders. I tried making a "plugin" folder and put the extracted files there and nada. I'll check again when I get home this afternoon. When trying this it was in the wee hours of the morning and I was half asleep. <grin> But I'm pretty sure the file/folder structure on my machine was C:\Documents and Settings\ ... etc with NO Application Data folder at all. ??

3) I unzipped pluginname.zip to a temp directory.
4) I moved the contents of the temp directory to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond Media\Plugins\MovieShowtimes
I'm on Win2K... I assume it's the same for XP, but have no idea.
5) I restarted BM.

voila!

Hope this helps.

Hi

Application Data is a hidden directory. You need to go in to Tools -> folder options -> view and then check "show hidden files and folders".

I can;t work it out I am using 2000 Advanced Server (SP4) I had exactly the same problem with entrypoint thing until I uninstalled the RC and installed the release. Everything always works now - computers eh!.

AHAH .. Might have missed the obvious. Normally all my computers have all system files and hidden files viewable. I'm the only one using them and have a pretty good knowledge of things computer wise. BUT I may have not changed that for the HTPC .. which is the one I never touch. Thanks ..

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 8 Update)

I can't seem to get this plug-in to work for me. It seems to install correctly...I can see the option in BM..and have access to it's settings. However, even after entering my Zip Code...I never get any Theaters, Movies, etc. downloaded. There is nothing inside the xml files except
<PropertyBag />

I had this problem with the initial version of this plug-in also. I am still running in Eval mode...but wouldn't think that should cause a problem as other plug-ins seem to be working fine.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 8 Update)

I've found I'm still in the same boat. Although I was finally able to install it and it does show up as a menu option .. selecting that option just gives me a black screen. Every other plug-in tried however works fine. I haven't said anything yet as I haven't had the time to fully investigate to make sure I didn't do something wrong. FWIW I am running the full paid-for version of both BM and BTV.

I've seen the when the trailers are updating. Have you left BM up long enough for the trailers to complete their update ?

TRAILERS ?? How cool is THAT? You may be onto something. I really didn't think about that. Let me turn it on right now and let it "cook" for a while. Thanks !!

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 8 Update)

I haven't had a chance to work on it in this last week, but I'm going to start things up again after Wednesday.

If you're having issues, leave me a message/email with your zipcode and other settings you're currently trying. Also, indicate if you would be willing to run a test/debug version to gather a little extra info.

There were a few logic issues with the current one, but nothing that should be stopping it from functioning completely. I'll do what I can to get everything taken care of as quickly as possible.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 8 Update)

Kilrsat,

Love what you are doing with the Movie Plugin, I just have 2 suggestions:

1) Movie Showtime Screen

After a movie is selected, and a theatre is selected (either by way of Browsing Movies and selecting a theatre, or Browsing Theatres and selecting a movie) I would like a list screen with showtimes just for that movie (akin to a scroll list).

On a 10ft interface, the showtimes are a bit hard to read browsing by theatre and the later times are cut off when browsing by movie.

2) Respect music player

Move everything up so nothing possibly overlaps the music player. If playing music, the last item will never be seen.

Thank you for your hard work.

I've had BM open for over 12 hours now...still no movie info and nothing in the movies.xml or theaters.xml files.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Dec 8 Update)

I'm almost out from being buried in other work, and then this can get rolling again.

I have a debug version of the plugin designed to gather some extra info for those of you experiencing no showtime list after restarting Beyond Media. If you would like to test this, leave me a message/email. Hopefully this one gets tracked down quickly.

If you run into a black screen, drop me the Beyond Media log for the day and I can try to track it down. Logs can be found in C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\snapstream\beyond media\logs

I'd like to say these are easy to fix things, but its one of those "It works on my machine" things. I can't debug what I can't observe, and since I don't see the problems first hand I need your help to get things right. I'm willing to put in as much time as is needed to track it down and fix it, but I need someone experiencing the problem to volunteer a little bit of their time (or if they'd rather just send me their computer, that works too ).

So let me know if you want to help.

I haven't tried that. One of the problems is that my HTPC is being used a lot to record stuff, and my replayTV died recently. So I'm down to just the "old reliable" HTPC with BTV. Usually when "I" have time to shut it down or putz with it, is when it's busy capturing. (two tuners)

I will try the reinstall as soon as I can find the time to do it. It's frankly a little low on my priority list during this holiday season. (I'm building computers for a couple friends and relatives)
