Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (April 14 Update)

I just went through every trailer downloaded on my system and they all play without skipping.

My guess would be that it comes down to what version of Quicktime Alternative you have installed. Some work better than others.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (April 14 Update)

Just as Kilrsat did, I just tried all of the trailers from movie showtimes. Not a single problem. Matter of fact, I've not had a problem with this plugin for quite a while. A while back I did and I fixed it by changing the version of Quicktime Alternative I was using.

I've tried v1.56, v1.69, and v1.70, none of which perform properly.

1.66 works for me. Beyond that I can't say much.

I've never had any problems either. If you have Daemon Tools running, try killing that, restart BM, and see how the trailers play.

Nope, no Daemon Tools running, I'll try v1.66 and see if that makes a difference.

Do you have anything else running that is not required for BM to play the media?

Out of a very odd curiousity, could you try disabling your network interface when playing the media.

There's a significant number of people that experience jerky playback with various types of media using Beyond Media, but it does not happen when playing the very same media on the same computer using another program. I've experienced this twice in the past and made no changes to correct it. My hunch from what I saw going on is that the priority model for Beyond Media is the problem. Which is an engineering problem with the application itself. This is only my hunch from what I saw on my own system. I forgot his name, but one of the Snap Stream employees that frequents these boards verified that when he disabled Daemon Tools that his jerky playback stopped. I believe it was a resource priority issue causing it. It's possible you are also having a resource priority/sharing issue. Is your hard drive of reasonable performance? Do you have anti virus software running? Have you installed the manufacturer's drivers for your motherboard's chipset? I'm stretching here but this really feels like the same problem that others have when using BM to play media.

I can't fathom how. If the data and the player remains unchanged, I don't see how the location of the file would make any different considering having the file stored locally should be the ideal solution.

The files play fine outside of BM, streamed or not.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (April 14 Update)

Installing v1.66 (after spending awhile trying to find it) seems to have solved the problem.

After spending so long trying to find it, I don't remember where. Sorry.

Try this link for Quicktime Alternative v 1.66. Click on link and then click on the "download" button at the top right of page:

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (April 14 Update)

Another awesome plugin.

Kilrsat, I have a suggestion to make it even cooler (if that is possible). The Netflix plugin is good, but how about a Fandango add-on? That way while browsing the movie you could select the movie, the theater and then click a "buy tickets" button. The tickets could print out on the printer, or the user could just forgo printing and bring the credit card with them to the theater which the purchase was made with.

I think it is a feature the ladies would like, especially when it is our money

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (April 14 Update)

Wierd problem here. I treid to install it on a fresh BM + BTV setup in XP. When I enter the plugin I have 3 options:

Brose Theater
Browse Movie
Browse Opening This Week

Then below it in white text it says "please enter a valid zipcode"

There is no options menu on the list for me to enter my zipcode. Is there an XML file created BEFORE I save my settings where I can change my zip?

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (April 14 Update)

Its in the Settings section of Beyond Media. There will be a whole configuration section for the plugin.
