Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (February 11 Update)

Great Plug in! I love it. I am having a problem with intermittant stutter of the trailers. I have installed the Quicktime Alternative along with the mdia player classic and associated the .mov with media player clasic. No Nero or Apple Quicktime on system. I have downloaded the high quality trailes. In some cases I also get lower quality trailers (the have a 320 in the name) but those do not seem to play. Any ideas?

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (February 11 Update)

Great Plugin!!!

Thought I would pass on some observations and worked for me:

Tried Quicktime Alternative 1.69 - bad studder
Tried the Nero 6 Ultra and Quicktime 7.x - was hit and miss on which trailers would run - no studder
Tried older QT Alternatives, from 1.42 thru 1.69 early versions would not show video, at 1.65 looks like it switched to QT 7 codec and worked without studder!!! Stepped up thru the versions 1.65 - 1.69 each version produced a little more studder each version.

FYI found all the versions available at filehippo

So try 1.65 and see if it cures the studder

I installed with the defaults except chose not to install Media Player Clasic and chose Windows Media Player as default

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (February 11 Update)

Looks like Apple made more changes than I first saw. I'll have to put some more time into finding a few special cases. Hopefully the end of the weekend is a wost case estimate for when it'll be finished.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (March 25 Update)

Updated to fix the trailer stuff.

I was trying to get everything back to 100%, but it is falling short.

The Chronicles of Narnia is only downloading 1 out of 5 trailers for me. It is a completely unique case, and for now there just isn't a way to work it into the system. If more movies switch to its format I'll update the plugin again to work with it.

Otherwise all 49 other movies that I checked were correct. 49/50 isn't bad, is it?

I also added interaction with the Netflix plugin that some people wanted. There's a "Send to Netflix" option on the movie details screen now. If you select it, then it'll do a netflix search for the movie so you can add it to your queue.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (March 25 Update)

Thanks for the update! Apple sure does make this type of application labor intensive! If you recall a couple months back, i took the example source for this project and modified it to work inside my own standalone C# program, removing or mimicking a lot of the BM specific stuff. I added a UI to it and had to modify that code to weed through all the webpages to get to the actual trailer file. I then had it automatically download it using some code that supported continuing a partial download (I'm on a dialup connection!). Worked great....but no more.

I'm guessing that Apple does this on purpose...just to not let programmers like us retrieve these things automatically, eh?

Anyway, rant off; great work on keeping this plugin up to date...I only wish I had a broadband connection to enjoy it to its fullest.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (March 25 Update)

The latest set of new releases downloaded and one trailer was hi def (1080p). QT Alternative would play it, but there was no audio. Although I've got the trailer quality set to high, I think this is the first or maybe second time that I've actually gotten a known hi def trailer.

Anyone else notice this?

It does seem like a full time job to keep this plug in going.

Thanks

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (March 25 Update)

I haven't found a consistent way to playback the HD trailers (with both audio and video) in anything except Quicktime so far. There are a few checks in the code to try and avoid downloading HD trailers, but it looks like the download slipped through anyway.

What movie was it for? I'll see if I can patch up whatever hole it was slipping through.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (March 25 Update)

Great job. I tested this out and the Send to Netflix works great. My wife loved it when she saw it. I like your solution to the ID issue. Don't address it and let the user address it.

We've already added movies to our queue and verified they are there.

Cheers,
Scott
