Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Feb 18 Update)

Is it confirmed now that the Nero demo "fixes" the Quicktime stuttering issue, even once the demo has expired?

Brett

I know my timing sucks as you just realesed a new version fo the Plugin today but I had a suggestion for a change to the plugin. On the by theater lisitng screen between the name of the movie and the movie times can you add the rating of the movie. As a father of two little ones I sometimes scan a theater for a g or pg movie and it would be nice if I could see that on the by theater screen.

TIA

Yes, the DirectShow filter does not expire when the actual Nero demo expires. I have that situation right now, an expired Nero demo installed and still perfect playback.

I tested every trailer I could find and playback was always smooth and clean. Its the best approach out there right now, although it leads to a bigger download. (22mb for nero + 12mb for quicktime).

For Reference:
QuickTime installer

Current Nero Installer

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Feb 18 Update)

I can't get the trailers to run. I have nero and quicktime installed but whenever I go to a trailer all I get is a black screen. I'm not sure what I' doing wrong.

Can't really say much with the information you're giving. Is it one trailer, is it every trailer, has it ever worked, what particular versions of the applications in question are you using, what country/location combination are you trying, etc.

I can do my best to try and track down what's going on, but I'll need a bit more information about what's going on. I did recheck every trailer for two countries this morning and it was working, so it isn't a large-scale generic problem.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Feb 18 Update)

I'm in the US. This is my first time trying this pluging as to I just got my HTPC working this week. This morning I was able to read through quite a bit of the post here and it was mentioned that QuickTimeAlternative is a must have. I thought that QuickTimeAlternative or a comob of Nero and QuickTime was what was needed.

Previous Post:

I'll try just using QuickTimeAlternative buy itself this evening.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Feb 18 Update)

I asked this before and got no response. So I am trying again. I would like to see the movie rating on the theater list screen. What file would I need to edit in order to make this change on my own. Or am Ijust asking for trouble

You can't do it via any changes to any files. Would have to be a built in option when I get to the next version.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Feb 18 Update)

I believe I figured out why I was getting the black screen. I don't believe I was getting all of the file that needed to be downloaded for a trailer. For example, in order for a trailer to work, there seems to be *.240 files and *.320 files which appears there needs to be 2 of each. I was only getting the *.240 files and each time I would get a black screen. I checked the logs the first time and this is what I got the first log below.

I then copied and renamed one of the *.240 files that had the same name just with 240 to the 320 and I then got this in the log below.

I then went about doing the same rename process as above and like magic, it begin to work. I now had 4 trailer to choose from which all appeared to be the same. Now I'm pretty sure this is now how this plugin was designed so I was wondering why I was doing wrong. It seems like I'm not getting all of the download necessary to play the trailers.

Which trailer quality setting are you using? (Low, Medium, High)

Looks like you're using low, the high setting receives the most testing (since its my personal favorite). Could be an issue with the low setting. Try this:
Close BM

Goto c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\snapstream\beyond media\plugins\movieshowtimes\

Delete movies.xml

Restart Beyond Media

Goto Settings->Movie Showtimes

Change Trailer Quality to High

Select Manual Update Now

See if it works any better.

Re: [plugin] Movie Showtimes (Feb 18 Update)

Kilrsat,

Doing what you suggested works. The trailers play however I do get a little stutter about every 10 or 15 seconds or so. Other than that things are working fine now. Thanks for the help.

That skipping is what the Nero+Quicktime combo corrects. I know you've done a lot of fiddling around already, but that should be the last bit needed.

I should hopefully have a small update version of the plugin either tonight or tomorrow that fixes the issue with low/medium quality trailers.
