Re: Alternative to Beyond Media?

Check out XBMC and Media Portal, there are folks here using both. For each you basically run it and BTV separately and set your remote to switch back and forth.

Re: Alternative to Beyond Media?

Meedio did nothing for me at all.. I couldn't even get it to see my mp3 directory, pictures directory, videos directory and the tv tuner didn't work, it said it downloaded the correct guide info for my are but didn't and to top it all off it crashed twice so I dumped it heh.

I will give J. River Media a try but right now I am installing Media Portal and see how I make out with that.

Thanks for the replies folks!

Re: Alternative to Beyond Media?

I have been using XBMC for months. Great interface with lots of eye candy. Settting up wasn't too terrible. XBMC and a Launcher plugin that minimizes XBMC and starts BeyondTV ViewScape. There are instructions for setting up XBMC in other threads.

I looked at Media Portal and wasn't for me.

Re: Alternative to Beyond Media?

XBMC....everything is already in it - ready to go. The only thing you have to do is figure out how to set it up, mode a button on your firefly and your off to the races.

It took me 2 tries to get it right...as I did not realize - it did not require plug ins installed. A certain theme for the eye candy, movie, tv show scrappers are built in. Basically pick the correct theme... add the folders to your video folders - then set what type of content tv shows...or movies.
