BM will not remember a networked folder

I am tring to add a networked video folder to BM
I have used "map a network drive" to add a video folder to BM. When I first map the drive folder - Beyond media sees the folder and lets me add it as a video folder just fine - all works well. My problem is when I restart they computer I am running BM on - then BM will not see the networked video folder. I have to go thru disconnecting and remapping again.
I am running XP on both computers, I have the option checked to "reconnect at logon".
When I re-start computer, the folder is still mapped and I can see it is still connected - just Beyond Media does not see anymore ?
Thanks for any help or ideas

Re: BM will not remember a networked folder

you dont have to remap , but likely you need to connect to the folder before BM does.

it would be better if you edited the xml file and replace it with the UNC path

i.e. \\server\folder\

This works very reliably for me

Re: BM will not remember a networked folder

Which xml file has the video folders listed?

I can't seem to add a network folder via the web admin so I wanted to add it directly to the file.

I have added them in the past successfully and the folder is browseable otherwise.

Re: BM will not remember a networked folder

-BeyondMediaSettings.xml

for example

<PropertyArray>
<Name>VideoDirectories</Name>
<Value>\\paceserver\videos</Value>
<Value>H:\movie_output</Value>
</PropertyArray>

Re: BM will not remember a networked folder

Thanks for the quick reply!

I also discovered the problem I was having:
The network folder needed to be be writeable as well as readable. Once I did that the web admin had no problem creating the folder.

BTW I was using BTV and not BM. I had done a search and didn't realize this post was for BM.

Re: BM will not remember a networked folder

Many thanks to jptheripper !! I actually gave up months ago trying to figure out this solution......but
I just found the DVD Library plug-in which gave me the same problem of not remembering a networked folder. I really like the DVD Library, so I went back and re-read your solution only this time, for some reason, I actually got it !! I feel so dumb that the solution was soooo easy and I gave up. Anyway....just felt that a Thank You was in order.....however late it is...hope you see this jptheripper...

oh, and if SnapStream is listening............

WE WANT BEYOND MEDIA BACK AND BETTER !!!!!!!
