Dvix playback in Videos section

Using latest beyond media along with xp pro (wanted to use x64 but couldn't get BM installed at all on that). Anyway, if I "browse files" I can click my divx file, at which point it plays in windows media player 10. But the divx files don't even show up under videos -- only the WMA and MPG files. Is there any way to get BM to play these native? I'm pretty frustrated.

Re: Dvix playback in Videos section

I play DIVX videos natively in BM all the time. All I had to do was to make sure BM was set as the video player under Settings -> Video Settings, and install the DIVX codec. My DIVX files all have AVI extension.

You may need to add the extension .divx in the file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond Media\Skins\BlueWave\VideoBrowserScreen.xml

Just add <String>.divx</String> after the place where other extensions are found.

Re: Dvix playback in Videos section

I'm gonna jump in here and add to this thread as my issue seems relevant...

I have BTV 4.5 and Firefly with BMB. I am trying to play Divx files with AVI extentions which worked flawlessly on my Xbox Media Center, my WMP 11, and my Divx Player. Of course I have the proper CODEC installed on the Desktop and the XBMC just plays AVI natively.

After I installed BTV and BMB I could not play these Divx based AVI fiels on my HTPC. So I installed the latest Divx Codec. Now, I can play a Divx file SOMETIMES.

I can play them after a fresh restart and thereafter it seems it doesn't work, just gives a black screen and no audio.

Additionally, it appears that BTV failes to play video, (gives a blue screen) and does provide audio.

I am using the default rendering settings, including overlay, 3d Excelleration failed to work without some minor screen flicker.

Amd Athlon 1800+

512 MB Ram

Albatron FX5500Q GeForce FX5500 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP

Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 500 MCE

BTV 4.5

Firefly 1.2.1

Any Ideas?

FOLLOWUP: I completely wiped the HTPC and reinstalled WindowsXP and all HTPC software from scratch. Problem solved!

I had installed a few programs (intervideo dvdplayer) which may have screwed something up, this time around I had a much better idea of exactly what I wanted to install and only installed the necessities.

What extension are your divx files using. If .divx try changing them to .avi

Re: Dvix playback in Videos section

I had already changed all of them to Avi format and they do play in the divx player outside BM however , however when I try to incorporate it into BM and DVD player player settings I use the argument %filename% I get the response no filename found. Thanks for your response!.

Not sure that I understand what you are trying to do (where are using that argument ?). Are you browsing the files in the Video section of BM, or are you trying to launch the file from windows explorer ?

Re: Dvix playback in Videos section

Isn't the DVD Library plug in only for authored DVDs? Or DVD title sets?

I think you should be playing the Divx files in the Video section of BM ?? I think that's what the guys here are assuming you were doing. I could be wrong though as I installed the DVD Library Plug in a long time ago and up to now have only used it to play actual DVD type media or files.

Maybe something new has been added ??

I play DVD files with the DVD Libary Plugin, but I play them with the standard BM player
