I have been toying with this product for the last week now and while I more than pleased with majority of the product features … I am dissatisfied with the output format. My purpose for purchasing this program was to allow me the means to record and archive shows which normally trade at highly reduced quality levels. For myself, the quality is of the highest importance and while the wmv format does allow quality levels suitable for my needs the tools available to edit the capture afterwards are unacceptable. From what I have found there is only ASFTools (a program which is does not allow the granular frame editing ... instead it rounds to the nearest 1.5 seconds of footage) or Microsoft Windows Movie Maker (which is a much more professional editing tool, like that of Pinnacle software, but requires the playing of footage to record the final output ... in other words it requires you record from your recording loosing quality and taking 1.5 hours per 23 minutes of video). Wouldn't an option to record in good old and standard MPG be advantageous for those that also find my short comings of Microsoft proprietary formats? At least then I could almost any editing software to convert it to DivX or better compression formats if desired.
I understand that in the next release Avi will be an option, but any indication of when this will be available?
