Are there any plans to support to support the hardware encoding facilities of the WinTV PVR? For higher bitrates, resolutions, etc?
This would be cool.

yes, we will support the WinTV-PVR once we get the necessary SDKs and as I understand it Hauppauge is working on them -- at the moment they only have an OCX control interface to the card.

Great! I just got a PVR and I'm interested in support also.
Thanks

I too am very interested in WinTV-PVR support. I would be glad to help with any beta testing (I'm quite technical), or with any development (some programming).
Keep us posted!

FYI, while we don't presently support the hardware encoding on this board, one can still use the WinTV-PVR with SnapStream just as you would use a WinTV-PCI with SnapStream.
In the hardware setup wizard, just be sure and select "MSVIDEO: Brooktree Bt848 Capture Driver" instead of "Hauppauge PVR Capture (PCI)".

I too would like to add my support for WinTV-PVR support.
My perfect setup would be:
WinTV PVR for MPEG2 h/w encoding
SnapStream for:
-scheduling ( from anywhere ! )
-playback
-DSS IRD control!!!!
So the PVR support is the only missing link.
I'm also going to e-mail Hauppauge to push them along.
Any update on this? This post is quite old. Any chance the fabled Quartz release will have this?
I've got a WinTV PVR. When using the WinTV software which uses the onboard MPeg2 encoding, I can record with virtually no CPU hit. I can record WHILE I play Unreal Tournament or Everquest! To me, this is a big benefit.
With Snapstream, my machine must be left alone to record. Granted, the files are much smaller - but I could batch compress files to .wmv while I sleep. Although I love the features of Snapstream, I can't see paying you and extra $50 to turn my $220 PVR card into the equivalent of a $50 card by not making use of the on-board encoding that I paid for.
While I hate 'me too' responses as much as the next guy . . . I'm definately a proponent for automating and integrating hardware codec support for the WinTV PVR. Biggest features of SnapStream certainly being scheduling and DSS support, the inclusion of direct hardware support for products such Hauppage's and Creative's would make an unbeatable combination.
My 2 cents -- Tnx!

I guess expecting a response was a bit much to ask. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Do any of these other Digital MPEG2 recorder cards out there have support for DirecTV.
(or is this for other Sat/Digital Cable stuff only?)
It would be nice to capture the mpeg2 stream similar to how DirecTivo works. The whole sony box/serial control works great for me, but obviously quality is lost going digital to analog, and then wmv.

Are you planning in the next release to be able to capture at 720x480?
