Hi everybody,
With SnapStream and the WinTV unit you can record TV streams - my question is can you watch the recorded programs on your TV later or do you have to watch them on the PC only?
Basically, can you use your PC as an advanced recorder to playback on TV later? I've read throught the specs and the messageboard but I still can't seem to find the answer.
Any responses would be appreciated.
Thanks

It can be done but your computer needs to have TV out. Check out my setup.

Thats a BOOK PC there, isn't it? I've been looking at TONS of those but haven't found one with a TV Tuner... How'd you find one? Or is it a USB one? And if its USB, what qual are your shows that you've recorded? I'm THINKING of shelling out for the Win-TV-PVR card for when SS supports it. Figure the built in MPEG2 encoder would rock and make it so we can have better qual recordings. Anyways, lemme know :) Thanks!

I actually have the PCChips Book PC (or is it the Alton BookPC) and a Soyo Book PC. The soyo is in the picture. Here are some links for some book PC's. I actually have a PCI slot for my TV Tuner. There is a FIC BookPC that I like alot.

I lvoe you man http://discuss.snapstream.com/ubb/wink.gif I think I just found my perfect Theater PC. Drop a decent CPU in it, 256mb ram, 80gb HD, WinTV-PVR card and maybe a high end Sound card, and I'm all set. Hook that up to my theater system and bing! http://discuss.snapstream.com/ubb/smile.gif That is, IF the WinTV-PVR is worth it. i still have yet to see decent qual images from it so I can see for myself.
Oh yeha, the wireless KB and mouse combo. Forgot that http://discuss.snapstream.com/ubb/wink.gif

Which one is the perfect one? The FIC? I just wonder how they fit those PCI slots in there. I'm kinda hesitant on getting one because I can't see the back of it to see the configuration. If you get one take pics and post them.

Yeah, the FIC one. It has PCI slots (3 I believe) which is hard to find. That allows you to drop in a good TV Tuner and a top qual Sound card and something else. I forget if that one has a TV out port or not though. If not, you can dropin a tv out card and bing. Perect Theater PC.

No TV out. You can drop in an ATI All in Wonder for that. Then you have a TV Tuner and TV Out. You get 2 PCI slots and 1 low profile PCI slot. Remember that. It won't fit three regular pci cards.

Well, 2 woudl go for say the AIW (Wtill wanna know the capture qual http://discuss.snapstream.com/ubb/smile.gif), 1 SB Live 5.1 or audiology and.. What CAN you put in the low profile slot/ I don't remember seeing many low profile pci cards for much...? Though honestly, i didn't look hard. But that system looks to be th ebest bet for a PVR system overall.
