I've trawled through the site, but I've not managed to find an answer.

Is there an option to mute the sound when ss is recording? I'm thinking of my particular example where I normally leave my speakers on, and would like the machine to stay quiet when it's recording from the line-in.

Perhaps this is a limitation of the sound-card?

Open your play control (Windows) by going Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment and select volume control. You can mute and unmute the source of sound you are recording during playback without affecting the recording volume. I do this when I am recording a TV show while watching a DVD movie. Also, you can go to properties and select recording, this opens the volume controls for recording only. If you dont have the proper source selected you will record video but no sound.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I realise that I can change the muting manually, but I thought it might be possible for ss to do it automatically when it starts recording, and then un-mute once it'd finished.

You have a good point, maybe it should be an enhancement? I never thought it made sense to have the sound on during recording and no picture.

This is an option in SS. Under recording thre is an "Auto Adjust Mixer" This mearly mutes the line-in audio when recording.

I didn't think I'd be the only person wanting this - I guess it's already being sorted.

Unfortunately, I've just tried this option and it doesn't work for me. Perhaps it will once it's out of beta. Do you think it's worth me asking in the Support forum?

this feature will be in the next release and I expect that it will work in a more general fashion than it does right now...

rakeshagrawal, when you say this will be in the next release. Do you mean the one that came out on wed. apr 18? If so, could you point me to where that is set up at? For me, the sound playing while recording is very annoying. I have to remember to mute or shut off the speakers before going to bed. Otherwise, if someone was playing music really load earlier in the day, we get a nice surprise in the middle of the night when snapstream kicks off to tape something. Thanks.

I installed the version 1.2 the other day, but it's still not muting http://discuss.snapstream.com/ubb/frown.gif

there is a parameter on the recording -> video source screen called "Auto Adjust Mixer". make sure that this parameter is enabled -- use the hardware setup wizard to select which channel it records the audio from. --Rakesh

I just realized that I don't need the line-in to be UN-muted. So I just permantly muted the line-in and snapstream works fine. My ATI software's tv tuner is then smart enough to unmute the line-in when i want to watch tv. The ATI software is also smart enough to mute the line-in upon shutting the tv. So appears that there really is nothing for me to have to mute manually.
