Had one drive fail yesterday morning....replaced that drive. Then another drive died (wth) :wow:, during reconstruction . I've heard of such things happening.

Bugger...this was the only Raid 5 I had left in my systems (was planning to convert it to Raid 10).

All was not lost....was able to save all the important shows (150GB) Wife's , some of my shows. Total loses of approx 140GB shows :ohlord:, mostly WW1,WW2 (docu), and many more I cant remember.

Currently have Raid Reconstructor running.....this could take awhile lol

I feel your pain. I lost a drive when running with spanned drives and so lost it all a few years ago. (about 100 hours worth of shows at the time). I changed both my computers over to Raid 5 after that.

I've lost one drive since then. But Raid 5 let me recover without any lost data. (it was my main box that died not the BTV one but all was recovered.)

I now also backup both machines to a massive Unraid box as well. It has the benefit of being able to use mixed drive sizes and being able to pull any drive and mount it separately.

Good Luck.
