Anyone use this? Newegg has it for $10 after $40 rebate, figure I can use it as a stopgap between now and an eventual HD to get rid of this AIW POS. The reviews seem bad, but mostly based on the software package not the card. Its good till 12/15 so any help would be appreciate before then. Thanks! :)

The KWorld tuner is a horrible piece of junk! It was very flaky when setting it up on BTV. I had gotten one for free from a friend so I was trying it to get some ATSC channels. Now I know why he was giving it away for free ;)

Ahh now the $40 rebate makes sense... :(

The KWorld ATSC-110 hasn't been too bad so far. It's getting the same good signal strength on all the local ATSC channels.

Have you tried it with QAM? Its only $50 on newegg, which is a steal compared to the others around $150...

The KWorld 110 doesn't have QAM capability but it's OTA HDTV capability is pretty good - better than my VBox 150.

The analog turner side of the KWorld is terrible even with cable.

I think I paid around $100 for my KWorld at Newegg around Jan '06. There was a $30 rebate that I did receive but I had email them to get them off their butts.

Ah ok I saw some reviews and other articles that said it had QAM256 capability, but for that price I figured something was amiss. I'll just spend a little for something reliable I guess.

I think the confusion arises because the chip manufacturer may have built in QAM circuity but there is no way to turn it on and BTV doesn't support QAM.

There are reports of difficulty getting QAM to work with the Fusion card and the Fusion software. Part of the problem comes from where the cable carrier puts the HD channels in their lineup. Some cable companies put these beyond the scanning capability of the Fusion card/software. I believe there may be a hack to get around the placement issue but it just isn't worth the trouble. Most of the time the OTA signal is better that that provided by the cable service.

The placement of the cable HD channels may be part of the reason BTV doesn't support QAM. Every cable service is likely different in HD placement in their lineup.
