So.. I have BTV setup on my HTPC behind a wireless firewall. I am interested in accessing the btv web control interface on my HTPC remotely.
How do I do that?

There are a few different ways of doing this, but the quick and easy way is to log into your router and enable port forwarding to your BTV box. BTV is using port 8129. You need to know the IP address of your BTV computer. In the router, you set up port forwarding like this:
Incoming port 8129, forward to IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (ip of BTV computer), port 8129.
Then, to log in remotely, you need to know external IP address of your router (the IP address your ISP has assigned to you). You simply type into your browser
http://yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy:8129 (where the yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy is your external IP address)
Btw, make sure you enable security for the Web Admin before doing this.
The hard way (but ultimately the most secure and flexible method) is to set your router up as a VPN server, which let you log in remotely to your home network. This can be done using certain routers (Linksys WRT-54G and others) and installing DD-WRT with OpenVPN).
