View Full Version : stretching video to fit screen

out of curiosity, how does BTV stretch SD video to fit widescreen resolutions? Is it linear? or the non-linear method that are in some TVs (where the bulk of the stretching occurs on the left and right edges of the picture, keeping the center closer to the original ratio)?
Anyone who knows the answer to this question would be a great help to me. Thanks.

The included features allow you to set the borders of the screen and the screen ratio.

thanks for responding, but that didn't actually answer my question. Maybe I wasn't clear, because I know that you can choose the ratio and all that. I'm not asking anything about that. Let me rephrase.
When one plays 4:3 video on a 16:10 screen, and one selects the option to have to have that video stretched to fit the screen, what algorithm does BTV use to stretch the video? Does it stretch it linearly (just stretch everything out evenly to fit the space), or does it do it non-linearly, where the
outer portions of the video get stretched more than the inner portions?

I believe it's a linear stretch.

I was playing around with it and it definately looks linear.
