i noticed btvguidedataloader.exe was set to "below normal" priority. Yet it's taking up 95% CPU.
it's doing an incrimental update..
anybody else seeing this?

thats normal while its doing a guide update as far as both the usage and cpu priority go, its set to low priority so that if something else needs cpu time while its running it gets it, since it is really a low priority task

the only time that would be "abnormal" is if it was running for several hours or if its chewing up a lot of cpu but btv under the ss.net settings and guide doesnt say its doing an update at the current time

BTV freezes (or at least it did other night) while it was doing it.
i used a remote task manager to suspend the process..
btv functionality came back immediatly. i exited btv and then resumed the process..

maybe it was a fluke?

I don't know about you guys, but I cannot do ANYTHING while the guide updater is running, low priority or not.

If I try to watch even SD, or play a game, it freezes up.

I have a P-IV 2.8 Ghz with 1 M ram.

Oh yeah, and AGAIN last night it decided to run during prime time tV! Augh! We REALLY need to at least be able to set a time range. I am sick to death of this. For some reason, my stupid system is continually picking prime time to update. This happens once a week. It is really getting annoying, can you tell? :-) It seems no one else has this problem, I think my computer doesn't like me. It's doing this deliberately, i know it.

if you feel its an issue / bug make sure to file a report on the system and it will get looked at

I decided to use manual updates a long ago, in my experience, that automatic partial update has always been a ressource-hog, taking 10 times more ressources than the equivalent manual update does...

Actually RC1 has really improved it, at least for HD. I will try it with SD later. I can watch HD with no stuttering during the update. On 3.7.4 I had stuttering even with just SD. I guess maybe it is a side effect of the fixes for HD display they did for lower power systems. I will see if SD is also better, but I'm in WoW right now :-) Argh stupid addictive computer games!

I don't mind if it takes resources, I just can't stand it deciding to do it when I'm trying to watch tv. Which the past month is what it keeps doing. It is uncanny how it knows the worst time to do it, and then updates during those times :-) I guess i will have to do manual updates now.

Hmm if there is a command line way to start an update, I could script it at least.

In the download section, Deuce911 already has an add-on that does that, check http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showthread.php?t=22335. No idea if it works with BTV 4 too...
