I just installed the new version with Win 98 SE and ATI AIW 128Pro. Everything works, the tuner and everything! One problem though, after I run the diagnostic test, I noticed there is a slight pause during playback every 4 or 5 seconds. Has anyone run into this yet?

when you say there is a slight pause -- does the picture pause and the audio continues to run? and then the picture races to catch back up?

or do both audio and video just cut out for a moment before it continues to go forward?

The video pauses, but the sound keeps going. The video jumps ahead to match the sound, almost like the video skips but the sound doesn't. But like I said, it is very brief. Only in near vhs, and vhs quality. I used near DVD quality and it seems fine at that setting.

I have WinME and ATI AIW 128 Pro and have the same results. Works great, except the video stutters every 1-2 secs. Video stays sync'd with audio. Have tried many different capture rates and settings and can't make it go away. Gives you a headache to watch.

I can't get it to go away with Near DVD like Magellan claims.

This behaviour does not happen when I capture video using the ATI Multimedia Center software.

Upon further inspection I seem to be having the same problem (I've been attributing the freezes to high processor load during encoding as I'm doing a few other quite processor intensive things with the system as it's recording).

On my system, it doesn't rush through the delayed frames to catch up, it just jumps to the spot it would have been at if playback continued normally. The delay is about 0.25 seconds long, every 3-4 seconds. If you want, I have a capture of 16 seconds (2.5MB or so) I could make available for download somewhere so you can see what it looks like.

Seems that if you lower the bandwith setting the pauses arent as frequent, I just downloaded this tonight and set it up, scheduled a few 1 min recordings at various settings and watched the results, near dvd has alot of pauses, where dsl/medium seems to be good for me. I'm running on a p3 550, and ati all in wonder 128

Version 1.1 Record quality problems.

I was using Snapstream 1.0 and the record quality using iPAQ High Resolution setting was superb. The video was approx. 15 fps and the audio rarely if ever clicked on & off. But when I upgraded to v1.1 - the video and audio quality are both poor. The video portion plays at only 2-4 fps and the audio slooooooow down (sounding as if you played a tape back at real slow speeds). The benefit of v1.1 for me is that the PocketPVS sync portion worked great - the down side is the A/V quality is too poor to work.

I then re-installed 1.0 and the video/audio quality is back to near perfect but now the PocketPVS option is gone (as it was originally) so I manually have to get them onto my Pocket PC.

Any help from Snapstream would be great.
I have tried changing the IPAQ settings while in V1.1 to match those from 1.0 but still get the poor a/v quality.

we're trying to understand what is causing the AV quality problem under 1.1 but not under 1.0 -- what is your setup? are your recording settings under 1.1 the same as they were under 1.0 (as far as capture interface, tuning interface go?)?

On my setup, anyway, nothing's changed except I'm using the ATI Tuners (Legacy) option. But then again I've never really gotten the chance to record much with 1.0.

if everyone who has encountered audio/video issues with their recordings could read this post and help us out with some sample data, we can probably help faster.
